Speed was shot and killed during a botched jewelry robbery where his gun jammed before he could fire. He was shot in the neck and bled out on the scene

He got killed. Showed up as a "ghost" to help the other guy solve a complicated murder.

speedo died in the episode where there was diamond smugglers and they responded to the jewelery store and his gun was not properly maintained and it locked up. he tried to shoot the bad guy but his gun jammed.
