Everything is OK in moderation, no matter what the child's weight is. But why do you think your child is underweight? Unless the pediatrician has specifically said her weight is unhealthy, it should not be a concern. Some kids are just naturally lean; my son is the same way, and is perfectly healthy. Hubby, at well into his 30's, can eat anything he wants and not gain an ounce - lucky him!
That said, if the doctor has said you need to try to get your daughter to put on weight, quality is most important. There are "good" fats and "bad" fats. The worst kind of fat is animal fat, including chicken skin. Again, some if fine for anyone in moderation, but not with the aim of trying to get her to put on weight. Instead, try "good" fat like peanut butter or avocado. Another way is to try getting her to drink Pediasure. They're "nutritionally balanced" shakes for young children - think of them like Baby Slim Fast - LOL! I've heard that a lot of kids who are truly underweight (usually former preemies) drink them to help them gain weight. I personally only allow my son to drink them when he's sick and would otherwise eat nothing, so at least he's getting some vitamins.
Remember, underweight or overweight, the heart is still affected by fat. A child can be as thin as a bone and have high chloresterol. In fact, my son's pediatrician said he just checked a 14 - year - old boy's chloresterol, and found it was over 350! He also said the boy was very thin; skinny doesn't mean you're immune to health problems. Also, if you start her on bad eating habits now, it will be harder to break them later. She may not be skinny forever; you certainly don't want your skinny toddler to grow up to weigh 300 lbs because she was hooked on fried chicken when she was little.
But again, don't try to make your daughter gain weight unless your doctor has specifically said to do so. Good luck!

In moderation it is probably OK. If he is eating a fried chicken leg you wouldn't have to take the skin off for him. But I wouldn't let him pick the skin off of pieces he's not eating or anything like that.

I would think its OK, but make sure your not setting up an underweight kid to be an overweight adult. My son had a little friend who was under weight, they called it 'failure to thrive', and he ate butter!! You could make smoothies, with whole milk, or a number of other things that would help put weight on, I would try to pick stuff that will make a lasting healthy impression.

If the child is underweight then it is fine. My daughter was underweight when she was little and her doctor told us that she could eat anything she would eat. If I were you I would supplement your child with pediasure to make sure she is getting all the nutrients she needs. And if the child is really underweight, then a visit to the pediatrician is needed.

She would placed on a spurt each and all the surprising. i be attentive to whilst our daughter became that age she became like 10 % on the upward thrust chart for weight. For a whilst she dropped off. i became nonetheless nursing as nicely yet she became only very choosy whilst it got here to ingesting. The checklist reported to place Francis Bacon fat on issues and supply her gravy! Our slogan for a time became beef fat regulations, dip it in ranch and shipment on the gravy. I wish my checklist gave me that foodstuff plan lol. We did attempt avacodos with are intense in solid fat, we additionally nonetheless provide her a shake each morning (on the spot breakfast now ovaltine even though it extremely is lots extra fee-effective). Peanut butter is a robust source as nicely. attempt mixing the entire milk alongside with your guy or woman. i does no longer provide up nursing all jointly it remains solid and she or he would be able to nonetheless benifit from it. she would be able to consume meat? Mine does no longer.. now that she is exceptionally much 4 she would be able to consume fowl palms yet it extremely is approximately it. yet another ingredient is to no longer provide her water and decrease out juice in case you do this. those can replenish her little tummy somewhat of solid foodstuff. She is getting adequate liquid at this element from the breast milk. extremely whilst comparing how lots she eats you will desire to base it on each 3 days. i be attentive to that somedays like my daughter she would be able to consume extremely nicely and then others it extremely is like are you no longer hungry? i don't be attentive to why our young ones torture us like this yet as long as she is persevering with to enhance each little thing is high quality. Im constructive which you're doing all you could for now. You sound like a solid mom (rather like me lol ;) reward :)

I think it would be okay, but just remember, if it's baked skin that sometimes it pulls off in large chunks. So I urge you just to watch him/her very carefully so that they don't choke on it! Best of luck!

I would go ahead. My daughter is underweight and we were told to feed her fatty foods and let her snack all day. So thats what we do. She has already gained 1.5 pounds.
