I'm an American.
I think that with your current president, and his stances, that war for you is invetable.
I do not believe at this time that it will be with America though. Look within the middle east or possibly Europe.
Actually, just look up when you hear the planes.

Iran [Persia] is seen by the West as a rogue state. Iran is pursuing a nuclear policy of weapons production. Should Iran succeed in building a nuclear weapon, this then will spell extreme danger for the world at large and in particular the Middle East and most especially Israel.
Iran is known to have something like 11,000 rockets which could possibly reach European targets. For this reason the USA will build anti-nuclear missile sites in Eastern Europe, Poland and the Czech Republic.
I'm not trying to scare anyone, but the people of Iran should know that while we in the West bear no ill will towards them, we do not trust their leaders who seem on the whole to be entirely far out somewhere beyond reasonable debate.
What we want is dialogue and we're not getting it. This makes the USA in particular very nervous. When the USA feels nervous, it already has it's finger hovering over the trigger.
If the leadership wants it, then unleash the dogs of war. They just do not know what will happen to Iran. In plain English Iran will cease to exist and it will take less than 15 minutes to achieve this.
Iran is supplying the insurgents in Iraq. That alone is enough to cause the Americans to act decisively to protect it's interests.
The Iranian leadership should understand clearly, that the USA will do everything it possibly can to protect Israel.

I don't know if war will come or not, but ordinary people can make a difference by advancing the cause of peace in all the things they do and say on a daily basis. So when you hear people talking up war as a solution try to challenge it with reason (not argument) If you hear someone make a statement that you know is not factual maybe you can get the facts into the discussion.
I don't think war is inevitable but it is possible.
But Russia and China would have to feel that Iran was destabilising and threatening their own chances of peaceful development for the UN to do more than shout the odds, most of which is done for domestic consumption by both sides.
I don't think USA will strike first as this will make even UK turn against those in office. For a strike to take place USA would have to produce actual physical proof of nuclear bomb development at a pretty advanced stage.
Even if Iran is trying to do this I don't think USA will be able to produce conclusive proof until it is too late.

In the event of a misguided war on Iran, Iran has the target of 154000 US Troops in Iraq. Russia would be highly likely to arm Iran with anti aircraft technology and arms and military hardware. The US cannot pacify iraq so how would they Iran which is 5 times larger and militarily competent? It is unlikely but if they did then they would almost certainly bite off more than they can chew and learn a very tough lesson.

USA may not enter in to a full fledged war with Iran.It is also not necesary. The economy of Iran is not in good shape.Religious fundamentalists are taking over the Govt and wants to make an Islamic Bomb aimed at the west(USA).Once the bomb is ready Iran will pounce on Israel.USA does not want it.USA may strike out the Iran's nuclear installations in a fast strike. It may not last many days and civilians are not likely to be affected much.

This is not a circumstance of the US trying to be a bully. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is not one who can be trusted with such weapons. If indeed the program is for energy purposes, there is no reason that they should not compromise, and enrich their uranium in Russia as has been mentioned.
The US does not want a war with Iran. Believe it or not, it's the truth. It's not that we don't think we can win - we are just getting a little tired of war. Not to mention, with Iran's cultural influence on the region, they could be a very useful ally.

Let's hope for changes in government in both Iran and USA. If the Bush administration continually harasses Iran, then Iran's bellicose leader will be more andmore prompted to pursue his nuclear aims. If the rest of the world continue ammassing WMD, then of course countries like Iran will want to do the same to defend themselves. I am no fan of Ahmednijad, but you cannot expect someone you threaten to not equip themselves.
The best thing in my opinion is if all nuclear weapons are owned under the jurisdiction of the UN. This would reduce the individual powers of states, and also act as a deterrent threat for rogue states or aggressors.
But I think you can rest easy; the public in UK & USA do not want war with Iran, and speaking as a Brit, I think after the Iraq fiasco, any PM who took us to a similar war would be voted out very quickly. It is a vote loser so they will not do it.

After the mess America made of Iraq why would an occupation of Iran go any better. Surely not even the Americans are stupid enough to start another war that will drag on for years and cost thousands of lives for very little gain.

It's all bluster among the two leaders!!
If Ahmen is insistent of nuking Israel, as he claims. Israel will respond with Neutron Bombs.
Your country has no defense against this, believe me. Neutron Bombs emit high amounts of radiation that kill living tissue, usually in less than an hour, or so. Buildings are left intact, Its just the people and animals that are killed. Want my advice?, Advise your leader to allow inspections from russia make sure to the world that you're country is indeed persuing a peaceful nuclear program.
The alternative is one that is too scary to think about!!!
