Your $1500 is a small drop in the bucket for what you will need; it is probably not even one month's worth of expenses. You still have quite a bit to learn from your parents: ask them to list their monthly expenses for you, how to budget your money, how to use a checking account, savings account and how to use credit wisely. Insead of running away from home, try preparing yourself to meet the world with all the tools you need.

Well since you are only 17 you may have a hard time finding a place since they usually run your credit. I would say that you should save your money. Save as much as you can while living under your parents roof. If you parents don't charge you rent all the better. You can always help out around the house if need be.. Also, go to college even if it's community college getting some sort of degree will get your further in life than working two jobs. What fun is that? You'll want to save at the very least 6 months worth of living expenses that includes, rent, gas, phone, electric, cable, groceries, car repairs etc... That way you'll have a bit of cushion.. You'll also want to think about safely obtaining/maintaining credit.. If you are working 2 jobs get a credit card that you use for gas for your car.. Pay it off each and every month... It will help establish your credit and help in case of emergency... (ie. car repair, or medical) You can also look for a place to live roommate.com or in the local paper. Good luck

Im from texas too and you do have to be 18 to sign a lease. So your parents would have to sign the lease and have the apartment in their name and put you down as an occupant for the terms of the lease. Than when your lease is up you can resign a new lease under your name. You are better off just waiting til you are 18 that way you dont have to get your parents permission.
I would make a budget of all the bills that you will have and see if you can really make it finacially. There is rent, electric, cable (electric and cable usually require a deposit), water, gas, groceries, entertainment, if you have a cell phone thats another bill. You will also need furniture. You will need to get health insurance cause one you move out your parents cant have you on theirs anymore.
You say you want to go to college, there is books and tuition to pay for.
All of these bills add up fast trust me I know im getting a new apartment and its adding up fast. and 1500 will last you a month if your lucky. So you have 2 jobs with only a HS education you cant be making much more than minumum wage and that is not really going to be a whole lot to live on. Stay at home as long as you can to save money so that you arent living paycheck to paycheck.
But to find an apartment you can look on apartmentguide.com, apartments.com, just google apartments and you will get lots of hits.

While some will resort to name calling...I will tell you some facts. You will not be able to sign any contracts at this time without your parents co-signing with you because you are a minor. It would be better if you saved the money you are earning now for at least one year. When you move out, you will want to do it the right way, so make sure that you have enough saved for at least the first four month rent, utilities, food, and any other bills that you might have. After you move, you will not want to have to come back in three months because you did not manage your money right. If you can save all the money you may need to live somewhere for at least four to six month, you should be able to move with no problems.

I admire that your able to support yourself. But you are a minor the law sees you as under age. Many people and places won't take you seriously do to you being 17. Because if something were to happen to you the age would still be a huge factor. You should save for furniture and rent. Once your near 18 put out applications for apartments you can afford. When looking for an apartment look in classified section of the news paper.

You have to tell them that you want to move out and if that tell you that you cant you will be almost 18 anyway. And the only way to find a place is to get out and look. I live with my self since I was 17 in a house I pay for (it will be paid of in 3 months) and I still go to school.

is your home so unbearable that you must sacrifice struggling with two jobs. the best thing to do is not move out at all. The responsibility of paying rent, car insurance, groceries, bill may be too much. Why go through all that trouble if you cant just stay with your parent a bit longer. Use that time to save up some money. It will come in handy, i can guarantee it.

As a parent, I wouldn't be happy about it but then parents seldom are. The only thing that would make me feel better is to know that you had really done your home work, you have researched, know what you are talking about, have a plan and have all of the bases covered.
Think of all the questions they will have and make sure you have an answer to it. Be thorough and don't talk to them until you have the answers and have a pretty good idea of the move out date.
Good Luck!!

I could not wait to move out. That was what I looked forward to do since I was 15. I begged my parents to help me get an apartment and I moved out a few weeks before I turned 18. I ended up moving back home a month later! I did move again, but my dad told me that was the last time. Oh I wish I could turn back time. I would live at home as long as you can! I know you don't want to hear that, but it is true. I have car payments, rent, food, clothes, and more to pay for. I would still keep your job and go to college. DONT MOVE OUT!!! If you don't have to I wouldn't.
