Got a root canal today, and took 2 Aleve around 11 for the post-procedure pain. Now, the pain is most definitely back, and I think I need something.

How safe is it to take Advil (Ibuprofen) 3 hours after taking Aleve (Naproxen)?

If not that, how about Excedrin Migraine (Aceteminophen)?

Thanks.

Advil and Aleve are very similar; it's not a good idea to take them together. You should be able to take acetaminophen without a problem. If you have access to Tylenlol-3, that has codeine, and should take care of your pain.

I'm wondering, though, why your dentist didn't prescribe anything like a narcotic pain-killer? That's pretty standard procedure for a root canal. Call his/her office, and tell them you're HURTING!!! They should have no problem prescribing this post-root-canal; if THEY won't do this, call your doctor's office and tell them the situation - and find another dentist in the future!!!

I don't think Aleve is safe. It causes strokes.

Try to get over the counter tylenol 1's or if your dentist were prescribe them tylenol 3's. Tha is what my dentist gave me when I got my 4 wisdom teeth out.

I would go with straight aceteminophen, not Excedrin. The caffeine will not help you.

Liquid-Gel Advil works great for toothaches.
