I keep have alot problems with vista. First the videocard driver keeps failing so the screen keeps going bank then it comes back and a error message tells me theres been a problem with the video driver. Then explorer.exe keeps crashing then the usb 2.0 stopped working untill i restarted the pc then they worked again.

My question is , Would i have these problems with windows xp sp2 ? i never have known problems like this when using xp.

It cant be any of my hardware because the pc is new the tft screen is and its just doing my head in.

I think vista was released to early without having the proper support. not many of the cames will play under vista or programs unless you run them under xp sp2 mode by going in to properties.

Also my hard disk space has vanished theres 20gig left of 120gig.

Also would xp pro be faster then vista i want to get the best use out of my 3ghz worth of core duo processor and my 1gig of ram.

It could be a hardware issue, occasionally they do happen in new PC's.

Sounds like incompatability issues though

Also does it do this at a particulur point, when you open a certain programme or something?

1. go and get updated Vista Drivers from the video card manufacturer.

2. Get more RAM. 1 GB is not enough. Vista needs almost an entire gig of RAM to run properly.

Sounds like you're having multiple driver problems. You need to go to the manufacturer's website(Not, Microsoft) and download the latest drivers.

Don't blame Vista there aren't many games to play, or some other things that's is entirely beyond their control. They don't make the drivers for you're computer parts.

Hi dont give up on Vista just yet!

I have had the same problem, use programs to uninstall your current video driver.

Restart your pc,

Allow the pc to download the latest video driver automatically

This worked for me.

If it does not then also install the latest DX10 software.

1gb is a little on the low side, I have a 3ghz dual core with 4gb ram and I'm using 27 - 28% ram just to boot.

Hope this solves your problem as it did mine.

Vista needs, in my experience, 2gb of RAM to run sensibly. Try thst, or go to XP pro SP2, which absolutely flies in 1gb of RAM, and goes like stink in my PC with 2gb and a 2.8GHz processor.

Even on this little laptop (I'm downstairs at the moment in front of the fire) XP Pro SP2 does well in 512mb of RAM. It wouldn't begin to entertain Vista.

Hi, ur problem actually appears to be due to not only ur video drivers, but also due to viruses, malware, and probably a lot of registry errors. Visit ur video card manufacturer's website for example http://www.nvidia.com or http://www.ati.com and download the latest Vista drivers for ur hardware. Windows Xp sucks so please don't install it. Then I suggest u disable system restore and restart in safe mode and visit http://onecare.live.com and run Microsoft's free safety scan to remove all viruses, trojans, spyware, malware, and registry errors. Now restart ur computer normally and update ur anti virus and spyware protection or download these instead:
AVG Anti virus: http://free.grisoft.com
Spybot: http://www.download.com
Update them and scan using these tools and restart ur system and enable system restore. Also defragment ur hard disks and scan for errors and bad sectors. If none of this helps u at all then just reinstall Windows Vista or take it back to the company if it isn't custom made. I hope I helped.
Good Luck and take care!

IMHO, 1 gig RAM is not enough to run Vista smoothly. Of course YMMV.
