At the age of 17 my friend and I went onto a military base a few times and there we were given loads of alcohol and one thing led to another and I ended up sleeping with a guy there. At the time it seemd exciting, but now I feel dirty and used. I am 26 now and I feel that I should have reported this years ago...is it too late now? What could be done?

Ok well I didn't expect to be attacked like this. First off I never lied about my age, I wasn't trespassing (my girlfriend had a military id and we were allowed there) They do check it is a military base..., I went a total of 3 times and the first couple times I didn't get drunk, we all just hung out. These guys were over 21 so it wasn't getting jr busted. They had girlfriends and were supposedly just friends with us. One in particular, Yes I remember his name and all, was different in a not so good way. I am not saying I am not at fault at all, which is why I haven't ever come forward, but legally...I was under age and inibrieated. Which means what HE did was illegal. If your gonna be this cruel why even answer. Let someone who gives a crap put me in my place.

The statute of limitations for statutory rape (which you are a victim) varies by state. In California it can be charged as either a misdemeanor, or a felony. If the other person is less than 3 years older or it is charged as a misdemeanor but the statute of limitations is one year, if the person is 3 years or more older than you it is a felony then the statute increases to 3 years.

Mistakes happen, don't let this one incident ruin your life because I am positive that you have learned a valuable lesson. You have to remember that you were young and impressionable at the time. We men are supposed to respect women, what ever happened to that??

There is a statute of limitations on rape. As it stands now, even if you fell into it, you still haven't got any proof. No physical or DNA proof at all.
All you would be doing is setting yourself up to be brushed off. If its bothering you now see a rape crisis councilor. They do see women who have been raped long ago and its only recently started bothering them. It is amazing how the mind can refuse reality you can try to convince yourself that you 'deserved' it for getting drunk, or being in the wrong place, when its the fault of those taking advantage of the situation. You need to come to terms with what happened, but not by filing charges.

You weren't given alcohol. You drank alcohol. You made that choice. Second, the guy didn't rape you. You made a decision to sleep with this person. Just because you feel dirty and used, you want to try to get this person in trouble??? And what were you going to report? That you got drunk and had sex with someone? I don't even know the likelihood of charges even being brought against someone who had sex with a 17 year old, but it's not very high.

Hun, you made a bad decision and now you have to pay for it. Get over it and move on.

ok so at 17 you trespassed illegally onto federal government property....lied about your age to get alchohol...then slept with a poor unsuspecting Jr. enlisted guy .....that about sum it up?....now 9 years later you are strapped for cash and you figure this guy if hes still in the military is a Sr NCO by now so has plenty of it and you want to sue. most likely the only crime that occurred anyway was date rape at the absolute worst....which still requires you to say no and you dont say that you did..just you slept with him. depending on the state you were in and HIS age at the time it may or may not have been statutory rape......some states say if your over 16 your an adult for those purposes as long as the other person isnt over a certain age. and your PARENTS or some other adult responsible for you (like a teacher or counselor that you confided in then) are the only ones that can file those charges. which btw are criminal charges and dont entitle you to jack for money.

Nothing can be done. Too much time has passed and being you aren't military, were you supposed to be on the base? If not, then you were trespassing on Federal Property. You said it was "Exciting" then, but now you think differently. So why should you now blame it on some one else? No one forced you, you did it willingly and now that you are older and wiser you see you made a mistake.

I believe the statue of limitations has run its course, do you think you can identify the person who you slept with. At 17 it would be your word against their's (the accused) that you were coerced into doing something you did not want to do.
But seeing you admit you were there willingly "a few times" wont help your case to much.
You might want to talk to a counselor to see if you have a viable case.

Way too late for any crime that may have occurred. Depending on your state, if you were under age statutory rape is the worst crime that may have been committed. Several states prohibit the charge to be supported solely by the word of the under aged person.

I believe the statute of limitations is up, but you could contact a lawyer for more precise information. It may have different ramifications on a military base too.

from a personal perspective, it took you 9 years to feel that way? highly unlikely, I would assume you simply want to get some cash.

From a legal point of view, there are no statute of limitations for sexual crimes so you just might.
