Why does nobody remember the second part to that scripture, about men loving their wives as Christ loves the church? When you look at the way Christ loved the church, He submitted Himself to it, in love and humbleness. The whole point of the ENTIRE passage is for husbands and wives to submit to one another. As long as both partners put their spouses best interests above your own, your marriage will be healthy and prosperous.

Patriarchy is bad, m'kay. Like with the slaves obey your master thing, some of Paul's ideas are based on a socio-economic situation that no longer exists. Being the proud owner of a penis is not justification for asserting my selfish will over another person. THE guiding rule is from Luke 10: Love your neighbor as yourself. If you can't do this with your woman, who will you do it with?

I treat my longtime girlfriend as a complete equal, and will continue to do so after we get married. I'm a Christian, and I've always stood for equal rights for women. I want a woman who is strong and independent. I'm not interested in some cowering, clinging, submissive little doormat. I would never have a relationship with a woman whose self-esteem was so low that she'd expect me to dictate my wishes to her. If there's any submission going on, it would be the type of submission that two people who love each other naturally engage in (backing off and allowing the other person to express their opinion, or giving of one's time in order to attend to their partner, and so on). I believe in mutual respect.

As a Christian husband, I am to love my wife as much as I love myself...I am to treat her with respect and to honor her. I am suppose to lift her up and humble myself. We are to walk along side by side...I believe that God put man in charge over the household...just like a company has a CEO a household needs a leader. But I don't think it is meant to make the wife a slave or child.

My friends who are in this kind of relationship say it only comes into play when they are in an impasse.
If they have talked things through and found that they simply cannot agree on something, then it is up to the woman to "submit" to her husband's will, regardless of the subject.
The husband doesn't generally boss her around, it is only used as a "tie braker" of sorts.

I totally reject this concept. Marriage should be a union of mutual respect. Both partners should make decisions together and both should contribute in raising the children.

Any woman who marries a Christian man who believes this must be out of her mind.

The man and woman both submit to one another out of love.
IT IS NOT A SEX-DOMINATES OTHER SEX POLICY!
One of Paul's letters to the Romans says so. I forget the verse.
