The reasons varied. In Mezzo-America, the conquistadors slaughtered the native population to gain control of the area and acquire gold and silver for shipment back to Spain. Later generations extensively intermarried, which didn't kill the natives, but did largely stamp out thier culture. On the eastern coast of North-America, the colonists did not fight wars of conquest, but did negotiate favorable treaties with native populations that had been decimated by plague brought by earlier colonists. When there were conflicts, there was killing on both sides, but, with the native side weakened by disease, and the conlonia populations constantly bolstered from thier homelands, attrition favored the colonists. In the extrem north of North America, the 'pale skinned' peopl came mainly for the fur trade, and were not involved in a lot of bloody conflicts with the natives.

Not fair to link all 'pale skinned' people as killers...as for the why of it....greed and fear.
Most people tend to fear what or who they do not know....add to that the fact that they were the first land holders here, and those who sailed over were looking for safe pace to live and worship, finding the country already occupied was a bit of a downer to some....tho some were happy to share, others were not. Sadly illness wiped out more the actuall killings did.

Why don't you resurrect those people and ask them?
Don't try to insinuate that US Citizens have no right to want a secure border because of something done several generations ago by people who are not alive today. No one alive today can be blamed for any of that. Many if not most families in the US immigrated here long after all of that anyway.
If anything, it is a good lesson about why we should not allow massive amounts of unchecked immigration. It didn't work out too well for the Native Americans, did it? It won't work out to well for the current US Citizens, either.
(lead by example: donate your home to a Native American then move off the continent.)

Probably for the same reason mexicans slaughtered native Americans....greed. Did you know that Geronimo especially hated mexicans? History is very interesting when you really look into it.
