I want to major in psychology in the University, and I may want to be a doctor.

What I really want to do is;

1. Just like a therapy counselor, hear individual problems and advice, counsel them. But I do not want to be a mere therapy counselor, because it is a low-paying job.

2. I want to be able to prescribe drugs or health food, or at least be able to recommend to people.

What kind of job will I get with majoring the psychology?

Here is the list of what I want from the future job;

1. High-paying salary.

2. Growth possibility. It means, whatever I do, I wish there is a possible way to get promoted or get bigger scale, like moving into much larger space office, dealing with more high-class patients, spreading my reputation, etc.

Is it possible to become both a counselor and physical doctor, that I can prescribe a medicine?

Other than the above, by getting degree on psychology, what else can I become?

Thanks!

A psychiatrist is a psychologist/counselor who prescribes medication. Higher paying but longer schooling. I don't think there is a lot of growth in the field of psychology; if you were going to be a psychiatrist, that's about it. You don't get promoted really, unless you work for a large company that would have a head psychiatrist. If you want a bigger pay scale, larger space, high-class patients ... you'll need to move to a bigger city.

It's a competitive field, so it may be hard to get into. Check the area where you plan on going to see how the job market is.

Other jobs with a psychology degree ... you could be an interior decorator (they use them for homes - feng shui and such, institutions, supermarkets, you name it), or you could counsel people at a specific company (school, police department, large company with high stress levels). The degree itself won't be too useful in other fields since it's pretty specialized, but you could use it as an undergraduate degree if you choose to go to graduate school.

Eh, homelessness. No, this is attainable to get a occupation interior the sphere; yet i could heavily evaluate another important. Psychology is between the main known majors, and their merely isn't proportionate call for. You *won't* detect a psychology pastime till you get a minimum of a grasp's degree. there's a solid hazard you're able to desire a PhD. in case you acquire that, you are able to desire to bypass into analyze or instruct it on the collegiate point. so a ways as i understand, those are the two "precise-point" psych jobs. heavily inspite of the indisputable fact that, i could evaluate something else.

you've basically described a psychiatrist to a tee. Therapy couselors can listen to problems, access them and speak to individuals, but they cannot perscribe drugs. Full blown psychiatrists are doctors, get paid well and usually own their own practices.
When you are preparing for college classes, you can choose psychology, but major sure to pick a concentration in a particular area of psychology in which you would want to cousel: abnormal, childhood, adolescent, adult, men/women or pick from any range of concentrations that deal with a particular behavior: depression, fatigue, PTS, abuse, etc.
Even if your university does not offer concentrations, use your electives to take classes in the area you want to persue.

If you want what you say...you should major in biology/chemistry and then go to med school and become a doctor focusing on neuroscience and behaviorism.

Or...get a degree in psychology and then work at Starbuck's.

Maybe I dunno...... People that have 'weight issues', you could help them, talk to them.... you know, maybe if you got a job at the right place, you could prescribe meds to people.... good luck!
