how do you say, "i prefer to walk there"
I know the mi prefiero bit but what comes after?

The literal translation won't work as there is an implicit sense of direction in there. If you say "... por allí" is like saying "I prefer to walk around there". So the correct translation would be:

Prefiero caminar hacia allá.

the other one is:

Hay una buena película en.....

i would say "prefiero IR ANDANDO".

this sounds like a response to someone who asks, for example, "Want a ride?" in this context, "there" is pretty much understood.

as for the last part, i'd say "Ponen / Dan una buena película" (o "están poniendo/dando...")

we wouldn't need to put mi.. mi is the 1st person singular pronoun for the indirect object and to indicate that the first person receives the action of the verb so we wouldn't use it..

i would say:

prefiero ir caminando por allí.
literally( i prefer to go walking by there)

as for the other sentence i'd say:
Están dándo una buena peli.
