I was just invited by a friend to take a trip down to the Bahamas in early January. I was planning on getting my passport later on next year but now I need to get it right away. I heard the process takes at minimum 6 weeks, possibly longer. Where can I go to have the process expedited so that I can take the trip????

You can get a passport in less than 3 weeks IF you pay the extra $60.00 to have it expedited AND pay also for Express mail both ways. Go to the website below, print out the forms to fill out, get the list of documents you will need, then go to the post office prepared and save a trip. Follow directions carefully. Be sure to pay the expedited fee and Express mail fees also.

I had to get a passport for my daughter earlier this year I had about 6 weeks to get it. I went to the county courthouse and got the information, then did everything and had it expedited it took 10 days to 2 weeks but cost a lot. Expect to pay close to $150.00 or more. Also you can go to the post office website and look there, there is a link to tell you fees and procedures. Yes you can go to some not all post offices.

Go to a customs office (I went to the one in philadelphia)

To get more info, go to your local post office that does passports and they will give you all the info you will need, or at least a number to call.

There are ways to expedite this process, but just be prepared to spend a whole day doing this, and waiting in a lot of long lines.

Have your passport picture taken and your birth certificate ready to go. I applied for my passport around Memorial Day, and received it early in August, but I wasn't in a hurry. You can have it expedited, but understand that it will cost you quite a bit. You can't "hurry" the process without paying for it and there's no place you can go to have it done faster.

You can pick up the forms at your local post office.
