I completely agree with you. However, I'm on the other end of the spectrum. I am very cautious on saying the 3 worded phrase but yet, it seems in my experiences that the guys are the ones throwing it around a bit too liberally. These guys weren't trying to get into my pant either, we had dated for quite a while. I would rather not say I loved someone until I'm ready to marry them.

I don't throw it around easily, and so that's not the reason for any of my 'heartbreaks'.
Next time you might want to phrase your question to make it applicable to the appropriate people. This one should've been "Why do some people throw the word "love" around so easily?"

If you dont mean it and you just throw it around it wont hurt. What about those people who dont say it but feel it and end up getting hurt?

'Love' is the easiest word to say when you do love, and hardest to say when you don't.
