I am enlisted on the DEP Program( Delayed Entry Program); leaving early 2008.

I would like to be Surface Force Independent Duty Corpsman or other related IDC.

Any IDC, or anyone can provide me with some info on this??

I read you have to be E-5 to be elegible; how is the transition from A School(I would only be E-3 when i come out)

An IDC is not a separate job from corpsman.

It is a position that experienced corpsman are assigned to.

You will start out as a General Duty Corpsman.

After several years on the job, you will be eligible for further training.

You will then be allowed to attend one of the 19 C schools for Hospital Corpsman.

Then you apply for a IDC slot.

you have to do time in Rate and Time in Grade before you can advance. there will also be the E4 and E5 exams to take and pass with a high enough final multiple. You an expect not being even remotely close to being picked up until after your first enlistment is up.
