Not all Christian churches are in a decline. The new thought and progressive churches are experiencing record growth. The more educated people become the more they want educated answers concerning God. Fewer and fewer people can subscribe to the non-sensual doctrine of many of the Christian churches. The Christian churches that refuse to re-think their positions will become extinct, like the dinosaurs they insist didn't exist.

Church attendance is not an accurate depiction of belief as I know many practicing Christians who do not attend church as they wish to remain outside the politics that organised religion has dragged into Christianity.

For Fundies, this is a GOOD thing, since it is one of the silly prophecies.
Seriously, apalling lack of evidence is the main reason.
The scriptures have less than 10 people witnessing the recurrection.
The past 50 years have has thousands witness UFO's.\
Why is it that more believe in the resurrection over UFO's?

i actual do no longer think of it did, to be truthful. thinking the Papacy tried to help the final keeps to be of the Western Empire by way of founding the Holy Roman Empire in the early center a protracted time, as a counter to the Byzantines in the east (general around Constantinople, Emperor Constantine's capital of the empire, having moved it from Rome). That and that i do no longer think of the Germanic peoples that have been in periodic states of conflict with the Romans, that ended up helping in the empire's cave in, have been inspired by way of any Christian theory (in actuality, lots of them in all probability hadn't switched over to Christianity by way of that element).

Because the time is coming that was told of in Revelation, long ago:
Rev 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
The church (those who truly follow Jesus Christ), will be overcome. They will dwindle in number, and go into hiding.
Oh, you may still see huge, fancy church buildings, with huge congregations, here and there, and all those richer than Midas televangelists...but there aren't many of Christ's disciples in evidence even now...
And the ones that are known are being persecuted, even in the United States...from some kid having her mic turned off as she gave her valedictorian speech for daring to try to thank God before her peers, to a little girl in Columbine being shot by a classmate for daring to declare her belief in her Lord while looking down the barrel of a gun...
EDIT:
LOL...Monte's (Fruedian) slip is showing...
yes, people are rejecting a "non-sensual" God...in favor of a permissive society.

Church attendance is down, but the number of believers has actually risen. So I think it is a failing of Religion not belief.

It is primarily due to the lack of good teachers and spirit-filled churches.
