Say you woke up as a 20 year old male in college, you make good grades and you are a biology major at a reputable college. You are a bit over average height, a hair under 6 feet. your kinda attractive, and keep your body in shape. But your BLACK. Would you freak?, would everything else positive become absolete because your black?. Are you afraid that no matter what you like like or how hard you work, you will never be equal in the eyes of the majority?.Are you conscious of your unearned privelage? As I get older and meet more people, I have realized how much race is such a factor in life. How people treat you, what people think of you etc. People get nervous when I enter a room, people harass me when I am at stores, people think I stole my new car that my brother and me both payed for, people say how I never earned anything in life because it was all " given to you because your black". Whites talk about how black people are lazy, but when I work hard I get treated like a black savage

man. who gives a Sh*t what other people think. they are just hating because you are different. being different is a fabulous thing. it makes you stand out. make that into a good thing, which i think you have been trying to do. just keep your head up and shrug off those negative comments with a positive attitude and a nice smile. people will stop and think.. "why am i hating on this guy?... he's not that bad after all"

Ill be real honest with you as a white guy. I am 58 now and looking at life pretty much with my feet on the ground. So I will think a lot about what Im about to say. First it sounds like you have a chip on your shoulder towards whites. I dont doubt that you have been abused in a number of ways. And there are plenty of prejudices to go around. If you are looking for a kind and honest world it ant goin to happen. However what I would highly recommend is traveling to Africa and living there for at least 2 weeks. Even if no one ever treats you right you will feel so thankful to be in the US. Im not implying that, arent whites nice by letting you live here. Im saying that we all, including the whites that with all its faults, the US is an unusual and beautiful place. I returned from there on a medical missions trip last month. Believe me I know what its like to feel in the minority. My advice is to not focus on you but focus on the people starving and dieing all over the world, white and black and everything in between. I apologize for the white prejudices that come so easily but if it where not that it would be something else. Grampa B

to begin with... I'd freak out if after being mexican for 2? yrs I woke up Chinese or even White... I truly understand what you are saying but don't worry is not only Black people that experience these things... Not only black people are followed around the store to make sure you don't steal anything, ... unfortunately ,most people are racist ...some even with their own people. If you don't belive me you should check out Yahoo answers - Politics & government category - Immigration... You will see all the things they gotta say about the Mexicans. I've never experience racism personally cuz I don't look too Mexican... but that's the thing they judge you by how you look & stereotypes are a *****... but don't feel bad...don't let the bother you... at the end it's envious people that don't work hard for what they want and whine & say we - minorities - don't deserve to live better or haver better things than them. Just keep up the good work and don't let them get to you...

I am white and female. Waking up one day as a black male would upset me more because I'm male-not black, but I do understand some of what you say. When I was young, I married a black man and had two children so, I'm nottalking out the side of my neck. My son has experienced some things but I have also experienced problems with blacks-especially women (that thing abouttaking their men) I had hoped that the day would come when the issues of race were not important. There are many people white and black who are not racists, but some still are.I'm sorry that's true. All I can say is be you and love it!

Unfortunately, this is what is presented in the Media. If you wish to be angry at anyone, point your ire THERE. In today's world, everyone seems to be mindwashed by the Evening News. And what they SEE on the evening news, is not very complimentary to Black as a race in general.

Watch Cops. Most of the episodes feature incidents where the criminals are black. The medai has put this notion EVERYWHERE.

I know there is bad and good in ANY race. But, the plethora of BAD press afforded to blacks, CREATES the stereo-type you are complaining about. Some people are smart enough to know this is horse-hockey. But the vast majority flick on the TV set and shut off their brains.

I wish you the best. Keep working. You deserve a good life as much as the next guy.

Peace.

I am sorry that you have had such terrible experiences. There are indeed many prejudiced people of all colors. I know black people who tell their kids they are not permitted to have white friends. I know people of various colors who tell their kids they are not permitted to have Hispanic, or Jewish, or Oriental friends.

On the other hand, I know people of various colors who don't seem to notice color when dealing with someone they know. They might fear strangers - regardless of color - simply because of the numerous media reports of people being robbed and/or physically harmed by strangers. And they might have negative reactions toward people who act like idiots (again regardless of color) - who try to start fights, who talk and act disrespectful, etc.

However, there is no doubt that there is quite a poor reaction to blacks, at least in the US. The only positive action that can be taken is to work towards being as positive model for your race as you can, and to try to make friends across races.

We can only hope that when your generation is older that they can be a better example for the younger generations than the current adult population has been.

Well those white people that feel the need to blame everything on race has a degree of intelligence that cannot surpass that of a 5 year old. People of all races don't have the right to judge and criticize anybody. Nobody is superior because as far as I can tell, as long as you feed into all the bullsh!t people tell you then you will forever be inferior to them. That is their only tool of superiority, their ability to make some people feel lesser than what they are. If your mental capacity lacks the ability to overlook and overcome the thoughts, actions, wrong-doings, and ill manners of others then you will forever feel inferior, unworthy, belittled. As a black man you have to continue to work, continue to strive, and continue to gain knowledge if you expect to make it anywhere. White people have their struggles to and they are not as privileged as you make them out to be. You need to strengthen your mind and get over all of that foolishness you so call witness everyday. Don't let this society make you a victim of it's unmoral past. Be an example and make something out of yourself.

I'm as white as they come and the only difference I see between myself and a black person is they have a significant amount more pigment in their skin than I do. So what? I have a significant amount more pigment in my hair than a blonde... They are just insignificant differences that make no matter.

Well about the blood sucking parasite thing, I think that blacks are using to much of my tax money, especially when I see welfare blacks with new cars and new shoes-everyday.
