I'm looking to upgrade my old pots, and pans. Any favorite brands pros and cons. I'm not looking to break the bank, but don't intend to go cheap either. I'm either going to get a whole set, or peice one together to suit my needs. Thanks for your Ideas!

i don't know if they still have it in the market now but i've been using FARBERWARE (millennium series) for 12 years already and they're still great.

I have a set of (Lifetime) waterless cookware, It needs water but not a whole lot the covers seal tightly and basically you food is steamed, This was very good to preserve, flavor, and nutrients,. Problem is I happen to be a person that has to have most of the good nutrients removed before I eat the food, But for normal people it's great. For eggs , omelets, or things cooked in a frying pan,I use cast iron. Properly seasoned, they are fantastic.

I have no favorites. I pieced all mine together for usage. For everyday home cooking, I use mostly T-Fal. But I have cast iron, Le Creuset, stainless steel, industrial, Calphalon, Pyrex, you name it. Some cheap, some expensive. My baking and sheet pans are cheap too. Just think about what you cook and what pots or pans would be best for what you cook most often. And consider if you can go from the stovetop to the oven. I hate rubber or plastic handles because then you have to flip food into yet another dish to stick in the oven.

Depends on how and what you cook. For me, Calphalon's "One" line is perfect. Excellent non-stick performance, which is great for low-fat cooking. Heavy, thick pans that won't warp over time like the cheaper pans. They heat up and cool down quickly and evenly. Bed Bath & Beyond has pretty decent prices on Calphalon. There's other good brands out there as well, just avoid the cheap stuff. A good rule of thumb -- if you can buy it at Wal-Mart, it's probably cheap and flimsy and you won't be very happy with it.

Don't forget to get at least one good cast iron skillet 10 or 14 inch. Make sure it is machined, smooth on the inside. Lodge and Wagoner(?) are the 2 kinds I have and like both! I have a great deal of cast iron cookware and love it, for stove top or oven use!

IKEA! They have the best pots and pans I've ever used! We bought four different kind of individual pots for Ikea, they are silver and all have Teflon. I think Ikea makes their own cookware, and it's great. We've been using these pots and pans for the past three months - bought them when we moved into our first apartment together. They are very durable. We cook almost everyday and they barely even have any burn marks on the bottom! The food always comes out perfect.

If you are a serious cook, go with All Clad. It's the front runner. Pricey, though. I have Calphalon... have used it for four years and am pleased with it. Conducts heat well and handles easily, and it is not too heavy. Lids fit very securely too, which is not true of all cookware.
