You need to get your facts straight. Both are considered a medical condition. It is simply that the media is posting more stories about childhood obesity right now. If you watch any of the programs that follow starlets around, you will hear just as much about anorexia. Don't base your knowledge on one media source, if you are really interested in the subject, do research with multiple sources. And BTW, anorexia AND obesity happen b/c of eating disorders.

I agree with your comment. I am very obese now at 620 and love my size. I realized I was happiest being very fat and put on 400 pounds in the last nine years. I was a fat child - 200 plus in elementary, 250 by sixth grade, 350 by ninth and over 450 when I finished high school. I ate a lot but always good food, was well adjusted and healthy for my weight. My siblings and parents were not fat and knew I was happy. Most of their teasing was fun and usually related to my big waist, belly or the way I moved. When we played as kids I always had fun even though I was always slow and did not mind the teasing. I knew I liked to be fat and fine with not being able to run well or move like they did. I had a lot of friends who knew I loved to eat and would give me extra food at school. My biggest challenge was getting teachers to let me sit in a chair since I could not fit in the desk/table combinations. I enjoyed having my waist be 80 inches. I loved showing my size and still do although my waist is much larger and I weigh much more now at 620. I realized in my early 40s I was happiest being fat and put on 400 pounds in nine years and love it.

Well, it looks like we also need to be concerned about the state of our educational system as well, if you're any indication.

Tons more people die of obesity related complications than from complications related to bulimia and anorexia.

Obesity causes problems too. Those problems may not cause death like bulimia and anorexia do, but they continue throughout the persons life. Those problems are expensive for health insurance companies so those companies increase the premium rates for everybody to pay for it.

statistics support a larger growth in obesity in the younger generations more than that in anorexia or bulimia. all are problematic, but obesity is a growing issue more than the afore mentioned.

They should be worried about both, equally. They are both terrible conditions. But with anorexia and bulimia, they need to look at society as a whole...oh wait...im not going to get on that soapbox...
