YES.

This is the kettle I have (you can get them cheaper, but this one has been worth every penny):

I adore my electric kettle! It heats the water VERY quickly, and is incredibly convenient (I even use it to boil water for cooking). It's also very safe, in that it shuts off as soon as the water reaches a boil (unlike stovetop kettles, which can boil dry or catch fire if you leave it unattended). As a bonus, the one I have allows you to set the temperature according to the type of tea you are drinking.

If you are a serious or frequent tea drinker, I highly, highly recommend getting one.

(I never microwave water for tea--I don't like the taste at all, plus my kettle heats the water more quickly.)

I love mine - it's soooo handy when you want a cup of tea... They are really not very expensive so it's a a no brainer for me - if you don't have one - get one!

Also, if you heat tea water in the microwave I always feel it goes cold a lot faster than if you boil it in the kettle. But I am also one of those people that sip my cups of tea for a while so I need them to stay warm as long as possible =)

some people were suggesting a microwve--i just wanted to tell everyone that you shoudl NEVER try to boil/heat water in a microwave, as it is dangerous.

you can get what is called "superheated" cup of water--where the water is *above* boiling temperature but, due to the way a microwave heats the water, it isn't boiling.

once you take it out, any disturbance of the water--such as putting a spoon or teabag in, or even the water touching a new part of the cup can cause the superheated water to EXPLODE--literally shooting into the air far enough to hit your face and other body parts, with instantly scalding super-heated water that will land you in the ER for a week. it could even be fatal to a smaller person or child, especially due to infection of burned areas.

I am using one in my office. Label Says CROFTON, but it does a good job of bringing 8 cups of water to a boil pretty quick. I was able to get mine for Under $15.00 and have been using it 3 to 5 times daily for over 10 months now. Also it has a stainless steel heater coil in the 'pot' that doesn't corrode as does a typical 'black steel' heater coil.
I also use a GE brand at my home and camp trailer. They all work well.

Definitely! I got mine about 13 years ago and it's still perfect. It's a WestBend and it was $12 at Wal-Mart. It heats up water so fast! Faster than a gas stove! It's so versatile too, not just tea, but any recipe that calls for hot water. Just remember to always dump out leftover water before you put it away. If mine broke today, I'd have another one tomorrow.

If you are in an environment without a stove, otherwise the oven kettle is the best option.

Yes, I just bought one for my husband who is in Iraq and he loves it. Now he can enjoy tea, coffee, and cups of noodles instead of always eating at chow, that gets nasty after a while!

I never saw one til I went to the UK. Very handy when I'm out of propane and the microwave was broken.

Whats the point when a regular one works really good, and fast? You can always use a microwave too.
