Would you recommend any tests be taken when considering a career change? I'm 40 and bored and can't see doing my current job for another 20-30 years. I don't mind going back to school, but I don't want to go back without a very good idea of something that matches my interests and personality.

Are there any good tests for career changers? Obviously, the test itself won't really give me an answer, but maybe it will help me narrow down the options into a usable group.

Thanks.

I recommend a great book, "What Color is Your Parachute?". It's a great resource and is actually a fun way to do career exploration, plus it's updated nearly every year.

The Five O'Clock Club (a job search and career change group in New York City) also publishes a great book--I really recommend this one! It also has tests included.

TARGETING A GREAT CAREER
Landing the job of your dreams means you need to have a dream to begin with. This book helps you identify that dream ... make it specific ... and figure out step-by-step how you can achieve it. This book also contains a 20-page overview of The Five O'Clock Club approach to job search. Used by thousands of members of The Five O'Clock Club. Based on over 25 years of research. by Kate Wendleton.

After going through these two books, it might be helpful to meet with a career counselor for a few sessions--this will help you refine your goals and make a more informed decision about what you want to do.

Good luck--possible career change is scary but also a liberating time.

Check with your local college admissions or sholastic counseling office, they do have tests to help students that aren't sure what they want to major in. The results only shows strengths, interests, qualities, stuff like that.

Other than that I don't have a clue.

But if you can find something you love to do and get paid for it, you'll never "work" another day in your life. Understand?

Good luck

Yeah it extremely is plausible, however the prospect is extremely unlikely. Returning to college does no longer harm. As they say, you study some thing new common. Plus, whilst/if the monetary equipment improves, you're starting to be extra pillows (ranges) to land on whilst searching for a job. regardless of if, i will say this, in case you have adequate money saved up, it extremely is a great time to start your guy or woman employer. in case you provide it some comfortable loving care and use a splash pateience, you additionally could make lots of money from it & appreciate the adventure.
