We are going to go fishing next Spring at a lake near Durango, Colorado. We are going to troll for trout. My brother said that he heard that a "Christmas Tree" lure was the thing to get for trout trolling.
Anyone ever heard of this and if so, where I could find it?
Thanks

I think what your brother is talking about here is also known as a 'flasher', 'cow bells' or 'lake trolls'. These are trolled behind a boat and used with bait or lures for Trout, Kokanee, Salmon, etc... and are made by several different companies including Luhr Jensen and Sep's to name a couple. Here is what they look like:

I have some that have as many as 12 different sized Colorado blades on them that have been used on some of the bigger trout lakes in Northern New Mexico. Most of the tackle shops near you better trout lakes have these on their shelves ranging in price from $5-$20. Get you some.
A few of us 'older guys' have probably been using these for decades and knew immediately what your brother was talking about.

Hi Steve.

This is what I came up with; some links are valid. I looked at the e bay one, and certainly the lure doesn't LOOK like a christmas tree. must be the combination of Bait substances plus the tree substance itself.

Good Luck and have a safe trip.
