Was that on Food Poker? That's where I saw it and thought the same as you cos it was rather odd looking!! I think it would probably be the kind of thing you need try without realising you're eating it and then making up your mind!

even though tofu seems and tastes on its own pretty plain, you can actually eat it different ways...
it can be marinated in different flavours...then crumbed n deep-fried, which is great coz you get a really crispy coating, but the inside stays soft and velvety, And you get the flavour from which you marinated it in first...ie. soy n ginger.
It can be put into soups diced up, it can be grilled and put into a fresh salad with rocket and tomato, lemon juice.

You just gota be creative, and it is really good for you!!

It actually has little taste to it...however, it usually takes on the flavor of whatever you are cooking it with. It is said to be a good source of protein.

It's a very bland flavor by itself, only having a mild flavor of soybean. But when cooked, it takes on the flavors of the other foods and spices it's cooked with.

I've only tried it once. I was (very) drunk at the time, but it tasted like, well nothing really. It's how I would imagine bubble gum with out any flavouring. Very odd food.

Taste like soy. It's really kind of flavorless and does pick up the flavor of whatever you put it with.

it absorbs whatever flavor you have it with, like if you mix it with peanut butter, it will absorb the penut flavor, if you put it in a stir fry, it will absorb all the flavors, don't be scared of it, you just have to find a good recipe, it's a good source of protein, people even put it in smoothies sometimes

like wahtever flavourings you put with it. It is very good at tasting like other things but in it's self like eating spongy cotton.
