Was the bible made up to keep everyone in harmony? Like some sort of black mail to persuade people to treat others with respect, or they will go to heaven. Was its purpose to keep everyone under control and help create a friendly atmosphere? Let me know what you think!

Although the first part of the Bible has been proven by archeologists to be a vague version of much earlier and more scientific writings, it is essentially correct. The Old Testament may have been just a Moral Law to guide the people. The New Testament, however, is more spiritual. Both may be considered as ways to scare people and bring order to the community. But both also have provisions that help us to achieve religion, to have that personal and harmonious relationship with God.

Have you actually read the OT?

The bible is there to control the people, provide some creation myths, but mainly in the OT to justify the genocides committed by the Israelites against their neighbors.

The Bible tells of the good life, the way to live that is pleasing to God and leads to eternal life.

It is also full of examples of the depravity of human nature, as meat bot is very helpfully pointing out.

It is also full of promises that despite our depravity, God has in Christ provided a way that we might be saved from the punishment we deserve.

The Bible= God's word.

Is this what we have in America today? Control, respect I don't think so. Do we have a Bible believing Country today? I don't think so. God is not allowed in schools or anywhere in public, no ten commandments, no under God in the Pledge, this is not a Christian Country. And no one is in harmony, we as a nation are more divided than we have ever been before. More violent crimes than we have ever had before, more waiting to go into jail than is in Jail. We average 4000 abortions aday in this country. And we wonder why we haven't cured cancer after 50 years of it, we have aborted that doctor more than once probably. I think this country had better turn back to Jesus Christ, He is what made us great, Our anscestors knew this, Jesus came and died on a cross for us, to wash away our sins. He was a perfect sacrifice, and arose from the grave the third day victorious over death and the Grave. It is not to late, we can still turn to Jesus, if we will take one step he will take two. Jesus offers Salvation as a free gift to all who will believe, to all who will call upon his name. Have you ever accepted Christ? Have you ever ask Jesus to wash away your sins and make you a child of His? You can right now, no one knows what tomorrow brings, today is the day of salvation, just pray this prayer of faith and Jesus will make you a new person in him, just pray Dear Jesus, I know and confess that I am sinner in need of salvation. I believe you died on a cross at calvery and arose from the grave to wash away my sins, I ask you right now to come into my heart and save me, I pray this Prayer believing in the name of Jesus Amen. If you prayed this prayer with a sincere heart you are now a child of God, rejoice that your name is written in the Lambs book of Life. Jesus will now send his Holy Spirit to come and live in your heart and guide you into all truth. If you have any questions just send me an email, God Bless YOU!!
