Don't know, but I saw an interesting show "NOVA" and it covered what they believed the flood was. Based on what they said the people in the surrounding area that was affected by the flood only had a minimum of 1 day to get to higher ground. Any port cities where lost in 1 day.

It'd probably be a pretty rough ride to begin with, then there were those 180 or so days out in an open boat... people DIE in lifeboats after just a couple of weeks.
