I don't know whether it's true or not. If it is true , i want to know how they determine when one is a muslim or a non muslim. Whether the Saudis restrict the visits by non muslims or is it a total ban. Is there anyway for a non-muslim to visit Mecca ( as a genuine tourist ) ?

Hello...non muslims cannot enter Mekkah or Medina. There are checkpoints on the highway leading into both cities. I wasnt stopped, but if I was, I would have had to show my passport, which will have the visa in it. I had an Omra visa, which means I was going on pilgramige to Mekkah. In order to obtain it I had to 'prove' I was a muslim on the application....there are very very limited tourist type visas to KSA, but these are only done in groups, and they dont allow u to go to Mekkah or Medina. There are business visas etc, but same restriction on travel....PLEASE dont Ever try to sneak in.....its a very serious matter....Hope this helps....

this is ironic to make certain your query simply by fact we are only discussing this subject count number some week in the past with my friends back in Jeddah. The case grew to become into under no circumstances reported interior the community dailies and apparently, Makkah Police grew to become into in a position to understand a guy or woman of probable of an Indian descent who isn't a Muslim interior Makkah city. in spite of the particular indisputable fact that he isn't any longer providing his Iqama or the different evidence of his being as a Muslim, the Police considered him non-Muslim simply by fact the guy can no longer recite even the undemanding Prayer call or undemanding Muslim Prayers what's interesting is - it grew to become into learnt that he did no longer bypass the city gateways to boot and instead use the mountain to trek all the way down to Makkah. Police grew to become into suspicious - if there is not any malicious motive, why use the mountain instead of the gateways? if he's familiar with that non-muslim isn't allowed interior makkah - why danger? apparently, the guy grew to become into taken into custody and to this writing - it form of feels to be that he remains there locked up interior for interregotation. this is truly no longer prevalent what's the penalty for non-muslim people who're caught interior Makkah as non-Muslim will truly no longer dare to go into the placement unlawful. Or till - there is a few hidden time table that the guy has to stay away from the criminal way. merely like what the guy above did.

American passports do not say the religion of someone. The visa will say what type it is if your going into Saudi. If your not an American and your passport does not say your religion you will be required to show proof. Like a marriage book showing your married and it will usually have your religion on it. Any type of documentation from your local Masjid etc..these can help you enter into Saudi for purpose of Hajj.

Non-Muslims are NOT allowed in Macca. You cann't enter no matter what the reason.

There are many police check-points on the raod to Mecca where you passport, visa and other papers are checked...then allowed to enter the city limits

It is true but it is easy to get in. Just say you are a Muslim and say the shahada "la ilaha il allah muhammadir rasool allah" and you are in. You can even go to masjid al haraam and touch the Kaba and kiss the black stone.
