That netting can be cooked.
It is there to help hold your roast in shape.
Rub your spices over the outside of the roast.
If you are using garlic, you can shove slivers into the roast
Put your roast into the pot with some onions, garlic, carrots and peeled potatoes (cut into 4's) mushrooms
Cover your roast and let bake at 350 for a couple of hours.
Please let your roast sit 10 minutes before slicing.
You let a roast rest to avoid having all the juices run out.
Remove netting and slice.
Remove Veggies from the pan put in bowl to serve.
Now put your pan on the stove and bring the juices to a rolling boil. (prep for gravy making)
To make the gravy use cornstarch and water.
Put a tablespoon of cornstarch into a glass, add some cold water and stir. Add this mixture to your meat juices.
Some people like flour in their gravy, I find it horrible.
I swear by cornstarch
If desperate and pressed for time during the week and you want a roast, use that crockpot you got for a wedding gift.
you will need
1 crock pot on low (all day cooking)
1 roast
1-2 cups water
1 packet of dry onion soup mix
Mushrooms
Carrots
potatoes peeled and cut into quarters.
Place all in crock pot, put lid on
Come home at 6 pm take out of pot, pour liquid into a pot and boil. Use remedy above to make your gravy, enjoy hot meal
p.s. leftovers make great stew.

Cook with the string on. What recipe are you using? Dosen't the recipe specify what kind of meat ? At this rate I don't think you will be impressive! Identify meat type , then choose recipe for that cut. Better yet get a Chuck roast to make pot roast and follow a std recipe.Good Luck

leave the string on. Put a little oil in your pan and heat it. Roll the meat in a flour, salt and pepper mixture - brown the meat on all sides after it is defrosted. Then add water to just cover it - you can also mix in some red wine if you'd like. I usually put a sliced onion in now.
Then after two hours or so of slow simmering - add the rest of your veggies - potatoes, carrots, onions, whatever else you want. Cook on slow simmer - just barely bubbling - for another hour or two.

Cook with the string thing. Sounds like it is a rolled roast. The butcher puts it there to keep together while cooking. Remove when done. Everybody was new at something once.

I like Susan's recipe...we add a slice or two of onion on top when it goes into the oven. Also we add a 6 oz cup of coffee
[it's good ], and a quarter cup of soy sauce.

Will depend on on the context really. Which is better as a snack - fruits to me. It's tastier and gives you that tad of sweetness. Which can be better as a snack if you are trying hard to slice back on sugar and lose weight vegetables
