15 is a good time to start body building(aiding in getting bigger without getting fat). Do the protien drink. The weight gain has a ton of calories and will defeat the purpose of going to the gym. Also kick up your protien by eating alot too,,,,,protien that is, and eat on a schedule. Kick up your low fat chicken breast, eggwhites, turkey and so forth, the magazine Muscle and Fitness is good for some info. Again with the workouts dont overdo the weights, you gotta rest and let the muscles grow. Get your protien in, your complex carbs and water. Water is important too.

Here's the deal: Weight gain powder just adds a lot of empty (READ: Useless) calories to your diet. It may help you gain weight, but you'll gain it in all the wrong places. There are only two supplements that have clinical evidence backing up their claims of aiding muscle growth: (1) whey protein, and (2) creatine. The jury is still out on store-bought protein drinks, glutamine, branch chain amino acids, NO products, etc. Now, whey protein and creatine won't make you huge like the Governator (he had genetics and steroids helping him out), but they will help you build muscle.
If you want to use whey protein and creatine, avoid GNC and Vitamin World products -- they're more expensive and not very good quality. Generic creatine monohydrate powder works just fine, and whey protein should contain at least 20g of protein per scoop with as little fat in it as possible. Optimum Nutrition 100% whey and Champion Nutrition Pure Whey are two of the most popular whey protein supplements. Check out the website below for some of the best prices on supplements:

P.S.: I'm not a part-owner of this website and I don't work for them. I recommend them because their prices are good and they're good about getting your order to you quickly.

Hi Mean Machine, I am 17 and also wanting to get bigger, also been going to the gym for over a year. Your body needs a certain amount of protein to bulk up, I would highly suggest talking to a nutritionist at your gym and then calculate what you eat. Many times you dont HAVE to have products to help you tone up, doesnt mean they dont help. But look at the core things your intaking, and what your missing. Best of luck, email me if you have questions or still are only looking for products.
(My trainers have a few products they like, but they're not huge guys so I cant say they're AMAZING products ;))
Note: If your not worried about height, and around 5'6+ in my opinion I would say dont worry about stunting your growth. I stopped working out for awhile because I was told that, and two of my friends are already 6ft + and they work out everyday... This is over a years period of time and im only 5'10 and two inches makes a big differance, but he kept growing and is stil ripped =D Go for it. Just try to be around a height your comfortable with

To see any progress you need a good exercise program and diet, the exercise is 20% of it and diet is 80%.
you need to get quality protein, EFA, good carb's from whole wheat and multi grain, lots of veggies and fruits. Eat small meals every 2 hours no more than 400 to 500 calories per meal and try not to eat anything at lest two hours before you go to sleep.
You need from .8 to 1.2 grams of protein per pound of body weight a day, if you weigh 150 lbs. you need from 120 to 180 grams of protein a day but it needs to be quality protein.
Some good sources of protein are:
Fish: Salmon, Tuna, etc.
Poultry: Turkey, chicken both skinless and preferably white meat.
Beef: lean cuts 93% or more.
Dairy: low fat Milk, low fat yogurt, low fat cheese.
Nuts and peanut butter.
Protein shakes and bars.
whey protein for the post workout, and take the casein protein right before you go to bed, the whey protein is a fast digesting protein it takes no longer than 45 min to an hour and a half to digest this makes it great for post workout "Whey protein has the highest biological value of the proteins, at 100%. This means it is absorbed completely by the body. For this reason, I recommend you have a protein drink after your workout. One that contains a pure whey protein concentrate and/or isolate. These protein sources are broken down easily and digested rapidly in the body.",and the casein is a slow digesting protein that can take up to 6 or 7 hours to digest "this makes casein is the perfect complement to whey, the protein synthesized from casein is used more directly in muscle-building than that synthesized from whey."
• Pre-Bed Meals & Nighttime Meals: Bedtime meals or meals in the middle of the night should be high in casein. The percentages don't really matter. Sure, you could include some whey, but since casein is more slowly digested and absorbed into the blood, it should make up the bulk of the protein in these meals.
This will help to ensure a better blood amino acid profile throughout the night. Some suggestions for these meals are non-fat cottage cheese with some casein, or Advanced Protein mixed in; casein powder, or Advanced Protein mixed in skim milk; oatmeal with casein,
• Post-Workout Meals: Post-workout meals should contain whey protein hydrolysate as the only protein source. Since this is the most rapidly and efficiently absorbed protein source, it will quickly supply muscles the much needed amino acids for recovery.
If you are not going to use hydrolysates however, at least choose a whey-only source because of it's relatively rapid absorption and delivery when compared with other drinks.

Just wait it out and grow it up. You're probably small right now because you're young. This will change as your body matures. Don't take any of the body-building stuff, they can be very bad for you and can probably mess up your growth at this point. Instead, try liftning heavier weights or running/swimming for a longer distance. Eating protein will do you good! Just make sure not to eat TOO much protein. My parents know people who have gotten very sick from taking in too much protein.
And don't get too big, not every girl is crazy about a "big boy".
good luck! :)

If you take things like that, you face the risk of stunting your growth. Be patient, I'm sure you'll get bigger with time. It's good that you're trying to go about it the healthy way, though. :)
