Why do some in our society see fit to ridicule to fine work of our histroians and archiologists, calling their findings simply wrong. When the proof is concrete.
The worst thing is, such teachings are being taught over Evolution/darwinism in some schools.
Why is this going on? i dont understand the modus operandi of these people.

It is the constant push to re-write history and make society a Theocracy again so the religious leader can rule by whim again.

The greatest trick the Devil ever played was telling people Faith was more important that Intelligence and truth.

Also they do not seem to realize science has been religion's best friend. It has expanded God's domain from the sky to the universe, from the Earth to the galaxies.

Erica B> Nope you are incorrect

Anthony B> No you are listening to men from thousands of years ago saying what they thought God might want or think...there is nothing more direct from God then the world itself created BY God which obeys the laws God set for it. If you deny the real world you deny God. Anyway the "other side of spectrum" has never given any hypothesis, had it tested, submitted to peer review to achieve community consensus....so until the opposition does...they are shooting blanks.

dewcoons> actually you are not correct. ID makes the claim of irreducible complexity..which basically says life is too complex to have evolved and that if you remove one piece of the lifeform the whole thing doesn't work. Now lets pick something very small and simple like the flagella of a bacteria..it has 50 parts to it...according to ID if I removed 1 part the whole thing would be non-functional. So let's remove 40 parts and guess what? You end up with a 100% functional secretor which is what is used to inject proteins into other cells such as used by a virus. So we are already showing ID is wrong and Evolution is right just in that one little simple cell.

If someone has been socialized from the time they were born to believe in a myth as truth and has been told that their identity, their relationship with their family and their ability to live forever are all bound up in belief in that myth, then a substantial portion of people will believe in that myth and defend it in defiance of all manner of evidence to the contrary.

Belief in Christianity, Islam, etc. is basically a belief that the world is inhabited by supernatural beings and in particular a supreme being who created the world and us and determines what will happen to us. It's also a belief that death need not be the end of life. Darwinism and evolution contradict many of the key tenets of these beliefs. After all, if we evolved from animals, are we not animals ourselves, rather than beings created by an omnipotent god in his own image? And if we are just animals, is it not likely that we have no more liklihood of living beyond death than any other animal? Accepting the truth of evolution requires letting go of a belief in magic and religious superstition. For many, that is too great a step to take.

So the reaction of many religious people is to deny the validity of science that contradicts their faith. They aren't motivated by hostility to science per se, because if scientists ever "proved" the authenticity of, say, the Shroud or Turin (Jesus' supposed burial cloth) or of Noah's Ark, religious people would embrace such science since it supports their beliefs. But they reject science that contradicts their beliefs.

History is littered with examples of people who clung to religious belief in the face of overwhelming evidence that it was false. The argument for intelligent design is just another example. Until humankind evolves to the point that we can do without superstition and belief in magic, we'll always have these types of issues.

I think the universe has a very wonderful design, that allows for such wonderful develop to happen. It would have to be quite some accident, to have this setup, purely by random accident. Evolution/Darwinism should be taught as scientific theory, and Intelligent Design as spiritual theory. They both can be true, at the same time.

What in evolution or darwinism directly contradicts ID?

The best they can do is show the mechanics by which life came into its current form.

ID looks beyond that, and shows you the Designer who put it all in place.

Nothing in that is disrepectful to historicans or acheologist.

Once you have presented the design, as scientist and other are currently discovering it, there is nothing wrong with then crediting the Designer.

If it wasn't intelligent design then what exactly, is intelligence?

...property of mind that encompasses many related abilities...to reason, to plan, to solve problems, to think abstractly, to comprehend ideas, to use language, and to learn. There are several ways to define intelligence.

In some cases, intelligence may include traits such as: creativity, personality, character, knowledge, or wisdom.

However, some psychologists prefer not to include these traits in the definition of intelligence.

Intelligent design is unproveable, untestable and anything but intelligent. Let's face it if we were intelligently designed why do we have vestigial organs. Why are some children born with tails?

It is not science and has no place in the science class room other than for purposes of ridicule.

Virtually every Intelligent Design argument has been shown to be untrue.

I put it to Christians that they are happy to use lies and deceipt to encourage belief in their faith - lies and deceipt are the tools of the devil, according to Christians.

It is because the proof is not concrete and it is because you are only seeing one side of the spectrum. You can take all the evidence of a certain study and put two scientists to come up with their own conclusions based on the findings and you will get two different conclusions. You listen to man. I prefer to listen to God.

the problem is that "some" christians are soo afraid of science that they want to squash it.

science has only proven the bible to be true...not disproved it.

God said in His Holy Book...get wisdom...and in all thy getting...get understanding. He also said...My people perish for the lack of knowledge. Its what we don't know is what is killing us. ignorance is bliss.

true christians are not afraid of science because they believe that science will prove the bible to be true.

it is silly and rediculous to dismiss anything that scientists find.

on the other hand..."some" scientists are just the opposite...they are so hell bent on disproving the bible that their findings are corrupted because of their intentions.

we should seek facts and truths...not seek a way to disprove anyone.

it's man finally admitting that this world and man phenomenon are so complex and so intelligently designed that it cannot be antyhing else than the making of a transcendingly intelligent designer-God
