Doing something extreme with chemicals (like dying) or a relaxer or a lot of heat intensive gadgets might not be the best idea - I know many people who had a 'bad' reaction so something and lose 'chunks' of hair - if you are prone to hair loss I'd do everything to avoid harsh things to your hair/scalp.

My mom has alopecia and has to wear a wig, but she usually dies the little hair she has to go with the wig. You should talk to a hairdresser at your salon. Usually the hair loss is from stress, but it doesn't come back.

well, I wouldn't color my hair if I were you, will likely add to the alopecia.
