Earlier I had read a really insulting query in which the permission to men to beat wives was argued. Actually the user got the information from this article: http://newsbyus.com/more.php?id=10125_0_1_0_M it is really very insulting as beating of women within islam isn't such a bad idea after all. Women in Islam are free from problems in western world such as clothes to wear and sexy stares/glares.

I do not understand why people keep making such a bad thing about parts of our religion. Woman is for use of man, such as Allah said thru his blessed prophet (PBUH) Mohammad. My question is why that people who don't understand this concept is insulting the blessings of my religion, don't you think that if world only saw salvation in Islam then these things will cause more peace to be upon earth. Right now conflict arise between man and woman purely b'coz woman is not obey the man.

Ok that is what I think.

Thank you for openly stating your opinion. It's helpful for those who are appalled at any man beating any woman for any reason - now we know why you think it's okay.

Of course, you are a man. No woman would ever reason as you do. Even good Islamic women know this issue of beating women does the cause of Islam great harm. 50% of the world's population is female, by the way. Ignore their views if you will, but God does not do so.

Due credit, however, should go to Muhammad for the reforms he introduced into the lot of women in the Arabia of his day but the Qur'anic statement that he is 'a noble pattern' has meant that reforms thereafter cannot happen. He has consigned women for 13 centuries to seclusion (purdah), polygamy, child marriage and no say / choice in clothing. And, of course, the occasional beating. Just to keep them in their place.

The world cannot see salvation in Islam because it just isn't there. It is a system of works - doing good and performing 'The Five Duties' (rituals) so that one's bad deeds will be outweighed on the Day of Judgment. Who needs Islam to do more good deeds than bad? Even an atheist can manage that! Well, let me leave you with the words of Jesus: 'Beware he who thinks he is standing, lest he fall... For the first shall be last, and the last shall be first.' So put yourself and all men first, if you want, with women trailing 50 paces behind, in shrouds (all the better to cover their bruised and beaten bodies with) but billions of womem will be racing ahead of you into the Kingdom of God. And don't think you're guaranteed entry just because you are a Muslim.

There are some beliefs that are true only inside a culture or religion. For example, Christians and Muslims do not necessarily agree one how many wives it is acceptable for a man to have but we agree that a man should not just take any woman he pleases any time. So there is this belief that a woman has a dignity and liberty that demands a commitment and a relationship.

Many of us in the West have reached a point where we believe that men and women are of equal value and have the same dignity and rights and that Islam is objectively wrong for not recognizing this fact. This is not to say that we ignore differences or that there are not certain traditions about gender roles that we still practice from time to time, but on the whole neither a husband or a wife is entitled to commit violence upon the other. Two adults who disagree are on equal footing here, regardless of their genetalia.

The reason I do not believe there would be more peace if everyone were Muslim is exactly this - you are advocating violence against someone who loves you as being healthy, normal, and ordained by God. If violence itself is part of your religion then I am confused how you think this has anything to do with peace? Unless peace means beating into submission the people who disagree with you. Which is not peace or love but violence and hate.

You should study the history of Islam from a non-Muslim perspective. There are also many good books from ex-Muslim scholars that are helpful. Two good such books are "Islam Revealed" and "The Liberated Palestinian" by Dr Anis Shorrosh D.Min., Ph.D. Also there is Ergin and Emir Canner, both Ph.Ds, have some good material available.
You will never understand why people think what they do unless you see it from their perspective.

People insult your religion because they are insulted by it. Women are just as much people as men are, even if some cultures haven't accepted it yet. Acting like it is okay to beat your wife as if she is a common dog is acceptable is disgusting, wgich is why people are so digusted when you say it. The world would not be a better place if all women were subservient to men, so don't try to make it look like it would be.

Allowing men to beat their wives will not cause more peace on earth. People treating each other with love and respect is what leads to peace. All people are equal and women should have the right to peace and protection in their home, not being beaten by the one person who is supposed to help and uplift them no matter what.

There you have it folks. That is the type of reasoning that created the Quran and the Bible.

I guess if I was a middle eastern man, and had the freedom to beat women without recourse and felt good about being dominant over them, I would find my religion to be a blessing as well.

But

If I was a middle eastern girl, who was forced to marry a man that felt like beatings were an important lesson tool, I might have a different impression about the 'blessings' of my religion.

The decision to not dress sexily is one that Christian women can make. Modesty is Biblical, not copyritten by Islam!

Perhaps our christian sisters should dress modestly, if only for their own safety. This is a seperate issue.

Jesus proved he was speaking the Word of God by dying for our sins, then rising from the grave.

In fact, the empty tomb is still there for all to see!!!

Our Lord Jesus Christ was sinless.

Mohamed was not.

How can we respect a violent sinner who disagrees with the holy Word of God?

More important, why DO you?

“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.” (2 Corinthians 13:14)

Physical or emotional abuse is wrong, there is no room....and i quote " beating of women within islam isnt sucha bad thing"

In Islam there is a level of respect expected from each other, that does not include the right for men to abuse their wife and many dont. its just a minority whose actions i would usually put down to lack of education

You try to beat me and I'll beat YOU to a bloody pulp. I don't care whether you think that kind of behavior is ok, it ISN'T. You may be insulted by that but I don't really care.

I am NOT your slave. I am NOT below you. I will NOT obey you like a dog. Get used to it.

And btw, stop trolling while you're at it.

I saw on the news a couple years back, where a Muslim woman upset her husband and she was made to kneel and was killed. This was shown before political correctness was so big and powerful.
