Pulp Fiction sums it up best...

Jules Winnfield:
Pigs are filthy animals. I don't eat filthy animals.
Vincent Vega:
Yeah but bacon tastes good. Pork chops taste good.
Jules Winnfield:
Hey, sewer rat may taste like pumpkin pie, but I'd never know 'cause I wouldn't eat the filthy mother-fu**ers. Pigs sleep and root in sh**. That's a filthy animal. I ain't eating nothing that ain't got sense enough to disregard his own feces.
Vincent Vega:
How 'bout a dog? Dog eats his own feces.
Jules Winnfield:
I don't eat dog either.
Vincent Vega:
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal?
Jules Winnfield:
I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy, but they definitely dirty. But, dog's got personality; personality goes a long way.
Vincent Vega:
Ahh, so by that rational, if a pig had a better personality, he would cease to be a filthy animal. Is that true?
Jules Winnfield:
Well, we'd have to be talking one charming mother-fu**ing pig.

It is a great understanding among the religions. There is a lot of sacrifice too. Christians eat both cows and pigs. So there are no sufficient cows and pigs for both Muslims and Hindus. After Tuntrama Round Table Conference representatives of both Muslims and Hindus reached an agreement that Muslims won't eat pigs and Hindus, cows. A back door gossip is ripe that George Bush and the Pope were behind all these developments.

Islam considers human as the most superior of all creations and values their lifestyles.

So animals are divided into two groups. Halal (Can be eaten) and Haram (Cannot be eaten). Some of the conditions for judging Haram animals are as follow.

1) The animal eating all kinds of muck or dirt.
(e.g. Dog, Pig, Cat, Mouse, Crow etc.)

2) If Halal animal like cow or chicken starts eating dirt then that particular animal should not be eaten anymore unless that particular animal is kept in a clean place for about two or three months.

3) All the birds that are primarily using its talons for prey.
(e.g. Eagle, Falcon, etc.)

4) All the demon animals that can attack human.
(e.g. Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Shark, Vulture etc.)

5) All animals that are made of God's curse.
(e.g. Elephant, Monkey, Rabbit, etc.) They all were human before god converted them into animals because of not obeying God. See books like Quran, Bible for whole story in detail.

6) All earth crawling creatures including reptiles, insects etc.
(This is because they contain viruses of different kinds)

7) All the animals that have feed on Pig's or any other Haram animal's milk. This also includes their babies.

8) All the animals with which man has conducted sexual acts. Such animals should be burn after killing including their babies.

9) Hunted animal that dies before the man (Hunter) has actually reached it.

10) All the types of fishes that dont have scales around their body.

These are the types of animals that are not allowed to be eaten.

They can also be judged by sayings of Imam Ali.

* Egg laying animals whose ear are inside their head are Haram.
(Snakes)

* Animals who eats with their claws (nail) are also Haram.
(Eagle, Lion)

Muslims were a back to basics jewish religion. With all the trappings of the religion of Abraham. The law of the jews covering pigs was quite clear. You must not eat them. So jews and muslims don`t eat pork.Leviticus 11.7 and Deuteronomy 14.8

As to the real reason, it could well be related to the fact that middle eastern custom was to use pig as bustbins, feeding them all the garbage. This of course could well lead to the pigs being infected with all sorts of desease. Also pork doesn`t keep very well in a warm climate, and requires very good cooking.

In folklore terms, eating the meat of the pig is said to contribute to lack of morality and shame, plus greed for wealth, laziness, indulgence, dirtiness and gluttony. We insult a person by calling him or her a "Pig" when they demonstrate these characteristics. Muslims are forbidden by God to eat the meat of the pig (pork).

This is detailed in verses 2:173, 5:3, 6:145, and 16:115 of the Qur'an. An exemplary verse is quoted here: "He has only forbidden you dead meat, and blood, and the flesh of swine, and any (food) over which the name of other than Allah has been invoked. But if one is forced by necessity, without willful disobedience, nor transgressing due limits, then Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."

WRONG!

It is haram, full stop. There is no reason, it is a test of faith. I saw an imam give this answer on TV to a muslim who asked the same question. Nothing to do with dirt or anything else.

First of all, it's not only muslims but Jews to (if im correct) who also do not eat pork meat

1) We don't eat it because God/Allah has said so

2) We only eat some of the Herbivore animals (who eat grass and vegetables ect)

3) Pork is considerd to be...yes 'dirty' as the animal runs around in dirt and eat dirt/mud/junk which is just wel.....dirty! (sorry!)

Not sure why but it may have something to do with Jews don't eat them. they are not koshered but that is because they do not keep well in the heat of the country. Muslims come from the Jewish faith so Mohamed may have said the same things because they are similar seeing as they come from the same part of the world.

Funny!

It doesn't matter how you cook pork some viruses are still present. Just 50 grams a day can increase your chances of bowel cancer by 25%.

Maybe you shouldn't eat it neither!!

God states in the bible, in the torah and in the quran not to eat pork as it is a filthy animal that can cause much sickness and to stay away from it. most jews listen and muslims listen but somewhere along the lines christians decided they have all power to pick and choose what they want to do in their religion.
