Do you block users because they write an answer you disagree with?
Or is there another reason?

Do you realize that by blocking out those with whom you disagree, you will eventually be taking to no one but yourself?
Those who seek to silence others will only silence themselves.

I don't think it is appropriate to block anyone, in any category.

The only valid reason would be if you are being specifically targeted and harassed in a gross or sexual way.

This is an answers and information (and opinion) sharing site, if you start editing out certain views, you are not using the service properly.....

First there are probably plenty who believe the same things on here. Second I only block those I find insulting orover the top. Give me a point of view that I disagree with and I just won't pick it as best answer. Get insulting and I'll block the person.

I don't block because of answers, I block because of questions.

I've blocked the trolls -- the "what do I do" people -- those have disappeared with the new reporting system.

I wish I could block all of the people who post the same argumentative, insulting questions over and over. I really don't understand why they waste time lashing out in anger at people they think they are smarter than -- it's like making fun of the Special Olympics.

I've not blocked anyone yet.
Blocking is for sissies.
I have been blocked on two occasions, I think Jack B didn't like my attitude, (I think he was paranoid about everyone at one point) (he reinstated me, what a sweetie) and some freak of a fundie when I made a Catholic comment, and whose questions I don't miss.

I only block people who I suspect are reporting me. This is usually if they add me as a contact and then suddenly I get a bunch of violation notices, or if a friend passes on the word that he/she is a report troll.

I like talking to people who disagree with me, it makes life interesting.

I have never blocked anyone.

I have been blocked by someone whom I had caught in a lie, and when I called that person on that lie, I was blocked. No love lost, I suppose.

well, i got to tell ya, every time i blocked some one, i always felt a little bad...like trying to silence some one, and i never thought that was good to do. but i do block those who attack me. i also report seriously bad language...in bad ways that is, and stupidity, very rarely report insults, but most all my reports go untouched, just shows i am not a top reporter, i guess, oh, well.

i took so long in answering because i checked out your profile, and your 360 link, i am impressed...your not blocked or reported, your are "stared"

Since its your profile, I feel it is appropriate to block anyone you want for any reason. They give you the feature, why not use it the way you want to use it?

Personally, I only use the block when someone adds me as a contact who really would not normally be interested in me being a contact; in these cases, I suspect a virulently anti-Catholic member is going to use it to stalk my answers, questions, and starred questions, in order to track down all the Catholic-related questions in R&S. If they are going to blast my faith group, then they can do their own research, and not piggy back off the insight my history provides.

I have only blocked one person myself. The reason he blocked me from answering his sexual remark.
So I had to post it here in short form. He didn't want my answer I guess. : )
