The FAFSA is a way to figure out if you eligible for any aid or grants. The college wants to make sure they get you any money that will be helpful, that's is the main reason you filled out the FAFSA!!! Once the college found out that you are not eligible your next step would be to get a student loan. The reason you have to fill out separate forms is because the loans come from a bank not the people in charge of FAFSA! Best of luck to you!!!

The financial aid office just want to be sure that you have exhausted all grants options before moving to loans.

How did you get a letter in the mail telling you you were not eligible if you have not already filled out a fafsa? That is usually the first step for any financial aid.

Schools use the COA (Cost of Attendance) in conjunction with the EFC (Expected Family Contribution) to determine a student's financial aid package.

Your EFC is generated when you complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid - www.fafsa.ed.gov). If your EFC is above 4111 you will not be eligible for Pell Grant or ACG/SMART.

Depending on what your EFC is will determine whether you are eligible for a Subsidized or Unsubsidized loan or a combination of both. More information on loans can be found at www.finaid.org/loans

You should talk to a financial aid officer at your school for more information. Good luck!

fafsa is the 1st thing yo have to do its the federal application for student aid. Everything starts with this, when you get an efc number Expected family contribution number, loans and aid will be offered to you based on your need. If Free Aid will not cover the difference bet the EFC and cost of your school, loans will be offered to you. But 1st things 1st fill out the fafsa, do it online, its much faster than mail.

It's always a good idea to fill out the FAFSA because it shows what you're are eligible to get money for. It's financial aid for a lot of people. Try going more for scholoarships then loans however. There are millions of scholarships out there, and most people don't get them because they don't feel like writing an essay. If you write an essay, you have a better chance of getting more money and not having to repay loans.

FAFSA is for aid or grants, just like you said. That's money that you don't have to pay back, given to you by the government, that you are given for free. You have to fill out separate forms for loans; loans are money you have to pay back once you graduate from college. Two separate types of funding - one free (which you do not qualify for, the FAFSA), one a loan (which you will have to pay back when you graduate).

According to Uncle Sam, nobody has an excuse not to go 2 school because there's like 130k available 4 every1's tuition - the problem is that some of it is in grants that only certain ppl qualify for, and I guess the rest of it is loans. Loans are done through other entities (Woodforest Bank for example) and therefore you have 2 apply through them.

In Tennessee you have to fill out the FAFSA to qualify for lottery scholarships. The Fafsa is not for a loan.

In MI you apply for FAFSA to see if you are eligble for financial aid or scholarships offered by the state and other foundations.
