I am guessing that you hae been teased all your life and someone or many people have been putting you down.
I am willing to guess it is family but it may be from, what you concider, close friends.
First thing is : look at yourself. Ar you a good person? Do you live by high moral standards? Do you treat people good or pyut them down?
You you find yourself to be a good person then you probably are! Forget about all that crap that has been shoved in your brain.
Gain a good self respect for yourself and hold you head up high! You will not be displaying arrogance unless you go around telling everyone how good you are.
Your good self image will reflect and that is what people will see.
P.S. Drop those so called friends that put you down and surround yourself by good people.

Love yourself unconditionally. Maybe put yourself outside of yourself...and say, "would I be saying these mean things to my own children? Or to my own best friend?" The answer is always no. We are our worst enemies, I think. We are the hardest on ourselved. If it is true self-confidence, it won't come across as arrogant, as arrogance is actually insecurity, not self-confidence. So they are opposite of each other actually. If you laugh alot, enjoy your family and friends and focus on your good points, not your bad points, things can start to look up for you. Also, makeover helps or a new outfit...new hair style or makeup. Get some good books on how to build self confidence. They help too! Read! Read! Read!

Hold your posture up correctly, make eye contact and smile. Sounds simple but most people don't do it, yet it is the first impression people make that make up if someone perceives you as confident or not. Also if you can, invest in some clothes that YOU like. Make your own style that you can be proud of and it will help you develope a stronger sense of self. It doesn't have to be wild or unique but if you feel good in your own clothes it will show. Also when talking to people speak clearly. Show interest in them. Talk proudly but not boastfully of your accomplishments should they come up, never openly brag about things without them even being the topic of conversation.

You worry about yourself too much.
Worry about others, and serve them. It will make you a great person, but you don't worry about that. It's always about who you can help, and to whom you can be a friend. Before you know it, people will love you and you won't feel any of that extreme concern about yourself.
Depression and arrogance and strangely linked. They are both a preoccupation with oneself.
