Hello,

I think you've had some really good advice here, and I do think you've handled this well and sensibly yourself. It's what, over 2 weeks now since the operation.

What we don't know, is whether this is just an outside skin infection on the surface of your skin, - and you have drained all the pus away and cleaned it out, - plus there is a 'way out' now if any more pus forms, -

- or -

- whether the infection is from deeper inside and you haven't got all the pus out, plus you have general poorliness and skin redness and a temperature, in which case I agree you do need antibiotics as well as what you've done.

Hope this helps. Belliger (retired UK GP)

keep the wound clean and covered and watch it closely. If it gets red, or if you develop a fever, then go back to the surgeon that did your surgery, this is something he should deal with for free, it's a result of his surgery.

I would think you will need your MD to know about this.
It's a complication from surgery and will need antibiotic therapy so give them a call - it could turn bad fast so don't hesitate -
