But, thankfully, it is not. I do, however, believe we should have the same opportunity to reap the tax-free benefits.

Atheism is obviously NOT a religion. A previous answer stated that it was ruled a religion by U.S. courts but let's make it clear...it was an appeals court and the judge obviously ruled that atheism is a religion only to protect the plaintiff's First Amendment rights. In this case, the plaintiff was a prison inmate who wanted to begin an atheist study group but was blocked from doing so. Clearly, the judge felt that the only way to protect his right to do this was to rule as he did.
Atheism cannot be a religion as it's definition is clearly the antithesis of religion. Atheism is a religion as much as bald is a hair color.
Pssst...Last Ent Wife...so since an Appeals Court judge decided that atheism is a religion, that makes the decision right and okay? All right...that means abortion is right and okay; after all, the courts said so. Are you okay with that?

Why?
Are all people of other religions granted tax-free status?
Atheist churches, such as the secular humanist church, and Buddhist temples are likely tax-free.
BTW... atheism is not a religion, just as theism is not a religion. Atheism is a philosophical viewpoint, just as is theism. I know that some Christians like to say that atheism is a religion, but their ignorance shouldn't be the guiding principles of the world.

Atheism is not a religion! The government shouldn't grant atheists anything more than the normal hard-working citizen should receive.

Well, I don't think atheism is a religion, but hey, anything that involves less taxes is fine by me.

Religious PEOPLE are not granted tax-free status, non-profit ORGANIZATIONS are weather they are religious or not.
LIttle League Baseball & the Humane Society are not religions, but they are granted tax-free status because they are NON-PROFIT.
Atheists are perfectly free to organize their own tax exempt non-profit organizations.
Some jerk comptroller in Texas tried to rescind the tax exempt status of Unitarian Universalists Congregation, because there is no formal demand placed on UU's to believe in God. He had to go back on this, because there is NO requirement that a tax-exempt non profit organization have a particular God belief.

relies upon on the kind you do it. yet on account that atheists themselves are adamant that it is not a faith, I heavily doubt you will get the traditional non secular tax exemption. yet, the yankee Humanist association (AHA) became based with an academic tax exemption in 1941.

lol. Sure, I'll take that. All of the business' that any Atheist own can be tax exempt because we're Atheist. Just like the Christian churchs that make money from their perishioners through "tithing" are tax exempt.
