Some people make it sound as if we are just running around terrorizing women and children in iraq.

Aren't we are only killing those that mean to kill us. There will always be civilian casualties in a battle that takes place in a urban area but if the Terrorists didn't hide amongst the people that would not be a problem.

So WTF why are AMERICANS saying such negative things about how we are SLAUGHTERING innocent iraqis when that is so far from the truth.

Is that treason?

Yes it is treason (in my opinion), I don't know why we let people get away with it.
To me it's like saying the Holocaust never happened.
We in the USA armed forces, do not kill innocent women and children, but if the insurgents hide behind them, then they will be collateral damage.

blue eyes: you are very naïve.
We didn’t start the war it’s been a war since 1979, yes it was.
On November 1979 in a country going through a religious and political upheaval when a group of Iranian students attacked and seized the American Embassy in Tehran. This seizure was an outright attack on American soil; it was an attack that held the world's most powerful country hostage and paralyzed a Presidency (Jimmy Carter 1977-1981). The attack on this sovereign U. S. embassy set the stage for events to follow for the next 25 years.
Shortly after the Tehran experience, Americans began to be kidnapped and killed throughout the Middle East. America could do little to protect her citizens living and working abroad. The attacks against US soil continued!

April of 1983 (Ronald Regan 1981-1989) a large vehicle packed with high explosives was driven into the US Embassy compound in Beirut When it explodes, it kills 63 people.
December 1983, another truck loaded with explosives is driven into the US Embassy in Kuwait.
September 1984, another van was driven into the gate of the US Embassy in Beirut.
Soon the terrorism spreads to Europe.
April 1985 a bomb explodes in a restaurant frequented by US soldiers in Madrid.
August 1985 a Volkswagen loaded with explosives is driven into the main gate of the US Air Force Base at Rhein-Main, 22 are killed.
1985 a cruise ship, the Achille Lauro is hijacked and we watched as an American in a wheelchair is singled out of the passenger list and executed.
The terrorists then shift their tactics to bombing civilian airliners when they bomb TWA Flight 840 in April of 1986 that killed 4 and the most tragic bombing, Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland in 1988, killing 259
Then the terrorists decide to bring the fight to America.
January 1993, (Bill Clinton 1993-2001) two CIA agents are shot and killed as they enter CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia.

February 1993, a group of terrorists are arrested after a rented van packed with explosives is driven into the underground parking garage of the World Trade Center in New York City. Six people are killed and over 1000 are injured. Still this is a crime and not an act of war?
November 1995 a car bomb explodes at a US military complex in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia killing seven service men and women.
June of 1996, another truck bomb explodes only 35 yards from the US military compound in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. It destroys the Khobar Towers, a US Air Force barracks, killing 19 and injuring over 500.

August 7, 1998 U.S. Embassy bombings, hundreds of people were killed in simultaneous car bomb explosions at the United States embassies in the East African capital cities of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and Nairobi, Kenya. The attacks, linked to local members of the al Qaeda terrorist network headed by Osama bin Laden, brought bin Laden and al Qaeda to international attention for the first time, and resulted in the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation placing bin Laden on its Ten Most Wanted list.

Agenda, agenda, agenda.

When US troops were just outside Baghdad in 2003 CNN had the only cameras and live video feed. All networks had access to this feed. The exact same pictures were being shown on MSNBC, FOX and CNN. Again CNN was providing the live video. The camera was following an A-10 Warthog circling overhead. The scroll under the picture on both MSNBC and FOX read "American war plane over Baghdad" on CNN it read "American warplane allegedly over Baghdad". It was their own feed and they still had to attempt to stick a thumb in the eye of the viewer. People that rant about FOX or MSNBC because they spew propaganda would only see the propaganda CNN was pushing.

Neither the Dems or the GOP are without whack job ideologists. The problem is that many of the nuts, those that can be termed "far left", "activist" disguise themselves as journalists.

On the right we have Rush and Sean Hannity on the radio countered by Air America types. The only difference there is that you will not be put to sleep by Rush or Sean. They are all before the punch bowl waiting for their cup of Kool Aid.

Those that do not pay close attention and do not listen to both groups will not be able to separate the wheat from the chaff.

With a 97% literacy rate in this country you might think it would be tough to pull the wool over ones eyes. Countered with 46% of those being "functionally illiterate", unable to understand what they read, you may get a better picture of why the "left" pushes their agenda in that direction. The use of terms like "the rich" "we are killing" "out of touch" go a long way in politics. When put on screen before people unable and unwilling to seek real data......you get a Congress full of Socialists. Elected by people that are not. Completely unaware of what they are doing.

It's not treason according to the Constitution, but it is certainly worthy of contempt. The reason Americans are saying such things is simply to advance their own agenda, they do not want the Iraq war to succeed, just Google the phrase "America must lose in Iraq."

As you mentioned, accidents happen, especially in such a stressful envioronment as Iraq. If there was any intentional killing of innocent Iraqis by American soldiers, the soldiers involved would be court-martialed and quite possibly executed.

You may also want to do a seach for Code Pink, money to terrorists. What they have apparently done DOES rise (or is it sink) to the level of treason.

Some people will avoid reality at all costs because it doesnt support their preconcieved opinions. While a very small number of US military personnel have been involved with incidences that include rape and murder, the overwhelming majority have not. In combat, civilians sometimes get caught in the middle and though unfortunate, this is a part of war and has been since the beginning of time. I have seen actual videos of "civilians" walking into a fire fight. I put civilians in quotes because you have to wonder if these people are truly civilians or just radicals willing to become martyrs for the cause who know that being a "civilian" casualty will aid in the Islamists progaganda war.
Regardless, the overwhelming majority of Iraqi civilians have been killed by the insurgents not the US. In fact, most deaths have occurred with NO US involvement at all- example- roadside bombs etc and thousands of deaths counted by the left as war related have been proven to have happened by none war related incidences like the thousands who died in a stampede at a religious gathering (odd I know)
American soldiers have taken higher casualties than needed because they go OUT OF THEIR WAY to protect "civilians" from harm.

If you are referring to the questions on here then know that not everyone here is American. I don't believe we are simply there for the oil. If we had left Saddam in place and let him continue persecuting Shiites and Kurds then we undoubtedly would have more oil coming out of Iraq today. Also as I remember Bush wanted to start a universal health care for all Iraqis using the money from oil sales. Besides him wanting to take care of unfinished business it seems he wanted to turn Iraq in to a beacon of democracy in the middle east.

People seem to think just because we go into a nation with natural resources that we will take those resources. However more often than not we seem to have gone into areas with no real benefit other than helping those who can't help themselves. For example: Somalia, Bosnia, Afghanistan, and if our troops were not so stretched out I'm sure we would have gone into Darfur as well.

Great question. War is devastating no matter what. I doubt most people like wars no matter what the reasons are - they are just a loss of life and resources.

Now the American media uses people's emotions for ratings. When something extreme/rare happens, they portray these little subset as if it is common place. The anger towards the war is easily magnified towards these small situations. Also, video and pictures make war a little more realistic. Remember, soldiers were heroes prior to the Vietnam war - which was the first war where the American people saw footage of what happens. Vietnam soldiers where spat on just as soldiers today are critisized. So I guess we should thank the media.

We need to put hero back into soldier. We sit comfortably in our seats making comments about we what think the Iraq war is like, but they are living it. They arn't the ones who started it, but they are putting their lives in jeopardy for their own reasons and ideals.

Most of the time it is the insurgents killing their own people.

They are the ones who have detonate car bombs and IEDs in very crowded public places. They are the ones who have explosives strapped to their bodies and walk into the coffee shops and blow themselves up.

Yes, civilians do get killed by the troops, but it is not on purpose. More and more insurgents are dressing as regular civilians and when bullets start flying, the troops are going to look in the general direction the bullets are coming from and if they see someone that looks like they are firing, then that's is who they are going to shoot. Its nothing but collateral damage.

The truth is that most of the civilian deaths in Iraq are caused by insurgents or terrorists. Some are collateral casualties caused by our troops but not many.

I oppose the war but our troops do thier best to only target legitimate combatants.

I just back from a 16 month tour over there about 6 months ago. The ENTIRE time we were there we engaged less than 20 people in direct fire. And not even all those guys were killed. The way all the "innocents" die are when insurgents try and blow us up when their own people are standing around, when we drive through town.

LOL
It is a bit more complicated than that!
There are Iraqi Sunnies killing Iraqi Shi'tes and Americans.
And Iraqi Shi'tes killing Iraqi Sunnies and Americans.
And the Americans are stuck in the middle.
The innocent Iraqis are those caught between the fighting of the three sides.
