So I believe I have strep throat. Now I have never had the infection before and I am in my 20's, but I do show all the symptoms for it and so I'd like to get tested. The only problem is that I am based with Tricare and the local walk-ins don't accept my military insurance. I am also away from my base and have no opportunity to see my doctor ((otherwise I would go)).

So I was wondering how much most walk-ins charge for the visit, plus strep test, and for the antibiotics associated with it. All answers are appreciated!

Go to the Nacogdoeheg walk in Clinic on 1409 Oconnor Rd. it has average costs. Telephone number is 210 599 2273 The antibotics will not be expensive if you get them at a Wal Mart. Strep untreated can have long last effects, especially on your heart. Do see a doctor ASAP.

If you are separate from your military site, then contact the acute minor illness clinic at Brooke Army Medical Center. Otherwise contact your Tricare Service Center. They can locate local medical service for you.

Otherwise, there are walk in service available and they will vary in cost.

An example would be Rediclinic

RediClinic in HEB
6818 S Zarzamora
San Antonio, TX 78224
210-932-2268

Exam Diagnosis and Prescription for routine Strep Pharyngitis is $59. Any cultures would be additional. A prescription for a generic antibiotic would be covered by your Tricare insurance with a $3.00 co-pay

Go to http://www.mrsamedical.com/
View the video and listen to the audio by Dr. Gordon Pedersen. Strep has a nasty tendency to come back and the only real way to treat it, is to kill the bacteria that cause it.

Antibiotics will supress your immune system, so don't rely on them. This product has been recommended for Military stockpiling against disease outbreak and bio-terror attack.
