i am a convert to islam , i was christian all my life. i have noticed this. because i think we didnt grow up in islam . we know what life is like outside islam, we know how it feels to eat pork, to drink , have boyfriends and girlfriends, to wear clothing that shows our bodies, to go to dances style our hair, celebrate holidays like christmas and be with our relatives who do alot of things that are bad. and then we see islam. we see a chance to change everything in our lives. to give up everything for God something no christian does. even christians eat pork when it is forbidden, they pick and choose what they want to do in their religion. i asked a question about that on answers and i got the response that the old testament in the bible that says not to eat pork is no longer valid since jesus came. so they were saying any rules in the old testament should be ignore. so this inclused the 10 commandments too? i was tired of seeing how people in church gossip, dress sexy ,commit adultry openely and still act like it is ok and attend service as if they are perfect beings. in islam i can go to the mosque there is no waste of time singing songs, collection plates, or communion. you go to pray thats it. the women actually respect themselves by covering their bodies, and i sure was tired of wearing tight jeans and makeup all the time when it wasnt doing anything for my soul but destroying it. in islam we greet eachother even if we dont know eachother, in other religions they dont even smile most of the time . we are eager because it is a whole new way of life a new start and change, a chance to concentrate on God and the truth about him. rather than all the lies we have been fed all our lives. wheras muslims who were born that way they know nothing else. so they want to feel freedom of doing as nonmuslims do. they maybe get bored because noone makes islam exciting for them. maybe it just seems like all they have is rules. and seeing nonmuslims how happy they seem to dress, act, and do as they do seems more interesting and fun. but if you teach your kids from a young age how fun and wonderful islam is, and how great paradise will be if they are good, the stories of the prophets which are exciting ,they will always be excited about islam. and it will never grow old. but most lose sight of it because they see what nonmuslims have and sometimes wish they knew what it was like. but if they really knew they would be so happy to be muslim.

I have thought about this myself and pondered over it for a while.

You see when someone is born rich, he does not appreciate wealth. He will spend and not even consider how much he is spending.

On the other hand when a person works and attains wealth. He is more careful of his money and appreciates more than the one born with wealth.

So a born Muslim doesn't know the greatness of the blessing of Islam that he has been given and the new Muslim knows what he has been given. He has had to struggle hard to get it.

Is there a greater blessing than Islam? In this world no.

I think its because they actually studied about Islam a lot before converting and understand it while many Muslims who are born to Muslims never really bothered to look on the teachings of Islam and understand their religion more, in many of the cases its the parents fault,

Your poem has a great deal of merit! (and it touched a responsive chord in me) Some time ago I wrote a similar poem which I called Unseen. I think your expression of the concept is superior to mine. If your other writings are of the same quality, I hope you get them published. I dare not suggest any changes but, while reading your poem, some of the wording re-formed itself in my mind with the following result: drifting along with the crowd walking softly in the wind noticing how I'm not seen not seeing one single friend faces looking right past the smile I've forced on me there is a real possibility that I've gained invisibility

To be precise the neo Muslims are true Muslims since they embraced Islam by putting it into the crucible and the residual they found was Islam.

Their study of Islam is complete and they found the answers which were not available anywhere.

Now when they found out it's purity, it's uniqueness, it's philosophy, it's completeness, they feel pleasure in following the tenants of Islam and replicate it into their lives.

While on the other hand a born Muslim just follow the basic tenants of Islam and most of the Muslims FAIL TO FEEL THE PHILOSOPHY & SPRITUALITY OF ISLAM.

I am a born Muslim .

I believe this to be true as i too have noticed this. Our Muslims have adopted the behavior of the west where religion has no place in there lives. Everybody is too busy with life, their bank balances and accumulating duhnya.

begad mesh fahma ya Rana? It's obvious, for those who convert to Islam, they do so as they know what Islam really is (ady wa7da, fehmo eldein sa7, otherwise they wouldn't have converted), and as they held a different religion or were atheists before, they now know the difference, how great Islam is!! (wady eltanya, they know how Islam is really great), finally they joined Islam to make a difference in their life not to have "Muslim" as the religion in the ID (wady eltalta, they wanna apply Islam, not to be counted Muslims while not doing any thing Islam has urged us to do).

Most likely, that new converts, or reverts as you said, feel they have a lot to learn & a lot to do. Or their past had been but a waste!

As many said, it happen in almost all religions.
