Islam is the only choice for me because it's logical and practical and leads to a better quality of life. Many will not agree, but that's fine too...

Clearly Islam ISN'T the only choice. There are many paths to enlightenment, and I would hate to think that God (or Allah or Yahweh or any other name one chooses to use) would fault any person for striving to live the right life, no matter what path that person chooses.

The fact that you have been given this assignment leads me to believe that you are engaged in an educational process that is Islamic in its foundations. You should have a better basis from that educational background to answer the question than an outsider could. If you CAN'T, perhaps you need to question whether you are pursuing the proper course of education.

God sent down many Prophets for our guidance. Each Prophet was also either given a new book or had to follow the previous Prophets book / set of laws. In South Africa we had Apartheid ruling for several years. Now we have democracy, we cannot follow apartheid. In the similar manner those set of laws that came into existence first by the first Prophet were abrogated by the next set of laws. Christianity was followed by Islam. Jesus was followed by Muhammad S.A.W. so all of mankind has to follow the Qur'aan and the laws that are contained in it. From the time of the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. the Jews and Christians and pagans etc., rejected Him although he showed them clear signs and proof of his Prophet hood.

" O you men, surely we have created you of a male and a female and made you tribes and families that ye may know each other."--The Quran,[ 49:13 ]

" Who is the most favoured of Allah ? He from whom greatest good comes to his creatures."--The Quran

" All his creatures are Allah's family for thier subsistance is from him, therefore the most beloved of Allah is the person who does greatest good to Allah's creatures."--The Quran

These teachings were truely followed by the Muslims as History indicates........

Islam has in it's fold all types of races, colours & cultures which are treated equally.

"O people! Your God is one and your forefather (Adam) is one. An Arab is not better than a non-Arab and a non-Arab is not better than an Arab, and a red (i.e. white tinged with red) person is not better than a black person and a black person is not better than a red person, except in piety."--

Even Islamic festivals are universal. All festivals rotate all through the year so that any Muslim living in any part of the world can not complain of having a festival always in a bad weather.

This is not so with other religions. You can not celebrate e.g. HOLI a Hindu festival in SIBERIA etc.

"[2:190-192] And fight in the cause of Allah with those WHO FIGHT WITH YOU, and do not exceed the limits, surely Allah does not love those who exceed the limits. And kill them wherever you find them, and drive them out from where they drove you out, and persecution is severer than slaughter, and do not fight with them at the Sacred Mosque (in Makkah) UNTILL THEY FIGHT WITH YOU in it, but if they do fight you, then slay them; such is the reward of the unbelievers. But if they desist, then surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. And fight with them until there is no persecution, and religion should be only for Allah, but if they desist, then there should be no hostility EXCEPT AGAINST THE OPPRESSORS."

These instructions exactly synchronize with the International law. And every nation and every person or set of people has the right to self defence and to defend his/their property.-----as per law of the land.
