The Mexican Government has published a comic book that tells the Mexican and Guatemalan Nationals how to get over the desert, and into the United States. That is a pretty ugly thing to do for Mexico, but there it is. The desert that they are talking about has humidity as low as 3% rather frequently, and tempreatures that seldom go below 100 degrees. There is no water.. and the folks that do try and cross with the comic book frequently die for no other reason than that the comic book published by the Mexican Government is VERY stupied.
But even so.. we are at fault.
1. Mr. Bush has never said he would not.. not provide amnesty to the illegal aliens that are currently crossing the border. They believe amnesty is still there for them. That foolishness is on Bush and he is killing people with this conduct.
2. We could publish a comic book very inexpensively and circulate the book in the Border Towns. We could tell the people who try and cross the border that it usually cannot be done.. that most folks die or seek help from the Border Patrol. We have not done that.
------------------------------
One point here. The people with money.. the narcotics smugglers, and the terrorists, use the best Coyotes..People Smugglers, money can buy. They usually make it. The poor people use the comic book and frequently do get caught, or die. So the Comic Book would be a God Send for the poor who usually don't have an education equal to a fifth grader in our school system.
-----------------------------
Per the fence. While very decent people cross the border looking for more money (they usually had jobs where they were) a large number of Mexican Nationals are crossing the border who are criminals. A large number. The criminal rate of illegal alien is very difficult to find because the support groups have made it legally impossiable, but it is high crime rate. Our country wants to know who is coming to town, and as it now stands, we don't.
But if we are going to start tearing down fences, lets start with the fence around the White House and Congress. The border fence protects us, just as the fences around our Government places protect them. Lets all do without the fences.. or none of us.

Sheesh... Wake up.
Should a home owner be held liable because he locked the door to his house and a thief cuts himself while breaking a window? Of course he shouldn't.
The Government and it's agents are merely enforcing laws that need enforcing. The criminals have every right to stay in their own country. If they do then there are no risks. If they don't, then they are more than welcome to pick the safer routes to try and enter. No matter the route though, an agent will try his or her best to be there to arrest them for violating the law (& yes, it is a criminal law too.)
Oh, and while there is a lot of fencing, there isn't a wall anywhere. That "border wall" hype is nothing but liberal whining in an attempt to cast moral enforcement in the light of communist oppression. Unlike the communist wall (which was an actual stone & mortar wall) the U.S. border fence is not designed, nor intended, to keep anyone in the country. Everyone that wants to leave is more than welcome to use any of the number of gates in the fence (also called ports-of-entry).

Of course NOT! That's ridiculous and criminally irresponsible in its logic (or lack thereof). Why?
There was once a wall that divided a single city, congregation on one side - church on the other, students on one side - schools on the other, parents on one side - children separated from them for life.
THAT was the BERLIN WALL, and those stuck on the tyrannical side of communism could NOT leave under any circumstances and reunite with their family. Those on the the free side would NEVER want to submit to that dictatorship.
That was a wall that kept good people in. The border wall keeps BAD people OUT. (I only mean "bad" in reference to those with intentions of deserting their family and nation and sneaking illegally into another).
...
To "capnbilly":
(A) The double-layer wall near San Diego has proven VERY effective and it's only 14 miles, so far! Concrete tilt-up construction requires far less maintenance and is STILL cheaper than a simple 2-lane country road.
We build hundreds of miles of just such road every year in the U.S. The insinuation that to do something even cheaper is prohibitively costly and ineffective is just misleading.
(B) While it's certainly necessary to crack down on employers and that that would dissuade a percentage from coming, it would have no effect on the majority because:
THEY'RE not coming for occupation as in work but an OCCUPATION by RAMPANT POPULATION.
If we don't immediately stop the services (which, by the way, LEGAL immigrants, LEGAL aliens [students, etc], and even CITIZENS are denied!), this will NOT stop.
Of even GREATER importance: RESPECT THE INTENT OF THE 14th AMENDMENT!!!
That intent was clearly transcribed in the Congressional Globe of the 39th Congress. The Citizenship Clause, according to all who debated it - INCLUDING THE AUTHOR - did NOT apply to babies born here to illegal ALIENS.
Get rid of that and all the free med/food/hsg/etc that it promises and we'll have ourselves an exodus!!!

Nope.
It was the illegal Mexicans who took the law into their own hands and became criminals when they came across the border. Criminals must accept their fate when they trespass and invade the US. The Border Patrol agents were just doing their job.
You are really grasping for straws when you try to make the comparison to the Berlin Wall. Pathetic. I have been to the Berlin Wall. It was to keep people "IN" not "OUT".

Apples and concete clocks. The wall Reagan and Gorbachev talked about divided a single nation and people. The wall we must build is to keep out people who are not a part of this nation and have shown they do not respect the fundamental basis of a society...its laws. The people of mexico have shown that they can not respect our laws and enter out country like millions of immigrants have over the years. Since they seem to think they are "special" we will build them a special wall. The fact they are dying is nobodies fault but their own. Once you chose to commit a crime, only you are responsible for all the reprecussions that follow, no matter what they are or how or when they happen.

No, they should have been smart enough to come to the US legally then they wouldn't die in the desert. And in this case the majority of Americans are screaming Mr. Bush Put Up That Wall!

No,if someone is stupid enough to try and cross the desert,it's their own fault if they die and they are the only ones to blame. As far as the wall goes, we should make it like a fortress and add a little electricity! Build that wall Mr. President!

Absolutely not! The Mexicans choose of their own will to attempt the crossing, they know it is dangerous, they know they are not allowed to sneek into the US, and they chose to do it anyway! Any deaths/injuries are totally their own fault!
Ideally, since they are doing crappy jobs most Americans don't want to do anyway; they could institute some kind of system where they could get some kind of ID card to come in for the harvest season but they have to go back when work is done. No faimilys/children should come in, and they are not entitled to any "freebies: from the US gonernment/tax payers!

If we lead by the example of taking in all the poor people who wanted to come and use our taxpayer funded services, we would be leading the world to a pretty nasty future.
No, we shouldn't be accountable for those who try to break in, contrary to our laws.

Two totally different walls, two totally different reasons for the walls. In the end it all comes down to being responsible for yourself and you own actions.
