Size and strength are overrated for Infantry, focus on keeping your head on a swivel under stress. If your head is screwed on straight you can handle the physical training. The mental training is what gets guys in basic. We had a guy in our unit that was 5'8 and 150lbs but in combat he was one of the best. If your a team player you will find life in the military a lot easier, including basic training. Good Luck if you decide to walk down this path. The bonds you form will be unlike any friendship you've ever had before.

You will go through stress full, mental and physical training, along with classroom lessons that you will have to memorize. You will learn the following, such as hand to hand combat, first aid, map reading ,compass, all types of fire arms, outdoor living for survival, to make a bed, clean a barracks, etc. It seems like a lot to learn, when you complete the training and graduate, you`ll feel very proud. It will make you a new person. Also you`ll meet all types of people.

That is not true about the ASVAB. The army does not want a bunch of knuckle heads out with the lives of every man out there in each others hand. It is not easy to become an infantry soldier. You will be challenged and you will at some point want to quit.

You will never have a bond like the one you have with the guys you graduated basic with

If you can not think under stress you will not die you will just slow down you boys who will spend there time protecting you instead of engaging. Most likely though you will have been weeded out in basic.

It's the easiest MOS to get into as far as ASVAB scores. You only need 80 where as every single other MOS in the military needs 90 or more.

But it's very physically taxing. Your sergants will work you out like you've never been worked out before for hours at a time on a daily basis. (more of this in the marines than in army).

Also you will be expected to treck 10 or more miles from time to time while in the feild while carrying between 30-60 lbs of equiptment. (more trecking in the army than marines)

Don't even think about becoming basic infantry if you cannot think well under stress. If you cannot think under stress you WILL die.

If you are a healthy young person and determined to succeed, you'll make it. The physical training is not especially harduous, but you must be mentally prepared as well. Endurance is the key.

It's very challenging both mentally and physically. If you are in good physical shape, and have a good attitude you should haveno problems.

it really is not that difficult. it is stressful, and physical yes but not overly difficult. there is nothing that you will do that you are not capable of handling, but it is up to you to make that choice of whether or not to do it.
