A shed is for storage, i.e. of things A hut is for people, a basic 'dwelling' or temporary shelter So I think what you're after is a garden shed. If it were a hut in your garden it would be called a summer house. Years ago my father put up a shed in a friend's field by a river, and put beds and a table inside, and used it for us to stay in on fishing weekends. We called it The Hut - and that's what it was!
