And he went forward a little farther and fell on his face and prayed." (Matthew 26:39) Here, he goes from the standing position to prostrate on his face as Muslims pray.

"And he went forward a little and fell on on the ground and prayed." (Mark 14:35) Here the same positions are described.

"And kneeled down and prayed." (Luke 22:41) Here he is on his knees like Muslims pray, in another Islamic prayer position.

"And his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. And when he rose up from prayer." (Luke 22:44-45) Here is described the movement from placing the face on the ground to raising up to the standing position.

Do Mulsims pray to the same God as Christ and Muhammad had done while Christians do not know how to pray and pray to some other God?

Christ was humbling himself before God. The two passages are recounts of the same event both reported by Luke and Matthew.

Many Christian also fall to their knees in prayer before the Father. I cannot say for sure if Muslims pray to the same God as Christ did in those passages nor can I say that Muhammad knew how to pray and Christians don't. I think that prayer is a personal experience that one has. Whether standing, kneeling or face down on the ground I believe it not as importants ones spiritual posture.

I do not think that Muhammad was a prophet nor do I believe that Christ was a prophet. I believe that Muhammad was a man of his god and brought the teachings of his god to his people. I also believe that Christ was God in the flesh, he was the son of God, the spotless Lamb for the salvation of our sins. He was not here to just teach the word of God but fullfilll the new covenant between God and people.

Falling to the ground was the typical way that someone showed reverence and joy when greeting someone they love, missed or worshipped. People in OT times did this for each other, Kings, prophets, priests and God.

2 Chronicles 20:18
And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD, worshipping the LORD.

Job 1:20
Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,

Daniel 6:10
Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

The detail the Muslims miss, as well as most Christians is this...

No man has seen the Father except the Son. All of the OT encounters, visitations and visions of God were of the Creator...this being the Christ, co-creator with God the Father. He is the Word, the Word was God and the Word is God, nothing came into being without Him...its is through Him, by Him and for Him that all things were made and through the power of the Breath of Life that He gives that we live, move and have our being. Muhammad, by all accounts, was a false prophet. Love in Christ, ~J~

I have been a member of several churches that have what they call prayer meetings and this is the very same way we prayed. Thank God I don't have to pray in that way anymore. Prayer comes from the heart, not the knees.

Muslims accepted jesus Christ as a prophet, Christians believe He is God the Son and Jews rejected him. So in reality no they don't pray to the same God. Because only Christians believe He is God and that God is Trinitarian, that is Father , Son and Holy Spirit.Only one can be right..

Just because someone doesn't fall on their face doesn't mean they don't know how or who to pray. I'm sure God appreciates the prayer and praise and is not really looking at how you are doing it. I get on my knees to pray sometimes because I believe it shows respect. When I pray all during the day though I don't fall on my face or I would be to tired after a while to even get up. When we pray at the dinner table we all hold hands around the table but we do not all fall to our faces. I think it's up to the individual to decide when and how they want to pray. GOD BLESS!!

The bible does not mention the silly finger movements or the wiping of the face and pulling of the ear or the turning of the head etc Christ did not pray in set mechanical movements like the muslims.

Christa nd Muhammed PBU them both came with teh same message from God to pray and believe in One and only ONE Almighty God taht created all beings. If what you say about the postures of Christ is true (forgive me I have not read the Bible) then it is true they came to ask people to believe in one God so no wonder their prayers could be similar

Doe it matter how anyone prays? I don't have a ritual or public display. I pray in my car while driving sometimes or in the inner chambers of my home in my head with only God to hear and see me. When people argue and ponder about proper praying and who's mocking who's technique, the whole private time with you and God gets lost somewhere, doesn't it?

You're really jumping to conclusions by adding together the gospels different viewpoints discribing the same incident in different ways rather then proving that Jesus prayed like a Muslim.

If anything, Muslims imitate the way Christ prayed ... not the other way around.

Whether Muhammad is truly a prophet of God remains to be proved.

Anybody can have the bible rewritten to suit their own sensibilities, and that doesn't make anyone a prophet of God.
