If they decided to start drafting people to war again would you be for it? Personally I think it is a ridiculous idea I am just curious on what others think.

If you are in the US, no. We have enough volunteers and do not need a draft.
I volunteered and served in the Army when we had a draft. I personally think everyone should serve his/her country for some time in their lives.

that may sound great but in reality it's a bad idea

sure that our forced are being used more than ever but you don't see the military asking for it and there's a reason behind it. the military wants people who want to be there and that they are glad to be there. secondly i heard from a friend of mine who was in Afghanistan in 2002 and he told he that he rather would be with a volunteer than a draftee. but the best example that a drafted army would not work is the Falkland War. The Argentines were more numerous than the British but the Argentines were drafted and when the Brits came and fought a lot of them simply surrendered. And all of the British forces were volunteer army. A good concept but no thanks

We do not need criminals in the US military, that's offensive. The US military does not need lowlifes. If you are an upstanding American citizen you should be glad to go durring a draft. You should also be very proud of your uncle, brother, sister, father, or whever else gets drafted.

As an American it's your responsibility to defend the country in a time of need.

The military is not for Criminals and lowlifes. What most of you have basicly done is say that the Military is for criminals and lowlifes. I garuntee nobody is going to let a convicted criminal in the US military.

I would be for a draft if it is needed to protect our nation.

Did you know from 1948 until 1973, during both peacetime and periods of conflict, men were drafted to fill vacancies in the armed forces which could not be filled through voluntary means.

i'd help a draft for the two sexes, American babies now no longer care to serve in the militia, the only determination is to re-introduce the draft, maximum of neo cons help the wars we are in and opt for to invade Iran. they are pink blooded human beings as long because it isn't any longer their blood that's shed in scuffling with those wars. With Russian militia elevating its gruesome head returned via fact they comprehend our militia is tied down in our present day wars.

There is no need for people who don't want to serve in the military in Iraq. Felons and drug addicts would be more harmful as soldiers than Al Qaeda. We need to continue with a volunteer military with men and women with great values and leadership abilities.

No because of the fact that if we start getting people that don't want to be in then they will not take teh training as seriously and possibly get good soliders killed.

Drafting select groups of people. Prisoners, deadbeat parents, child molesters, skid row alcoholics and drug addicts who won't get clean and are ruining their families should be drafted. My brother should not be drafted.
