Police Officers are not really loved like they should be at work and yes, they have a job to do, but the work place can be stressful. Each offcier takes a stress test when their hired,. but after that their free to go. Some officers are stressed out beyond normal limits.

Dont' you think they should be checked for stress levels each year????

They put their lives at risk each and every time they leave the home. That's stressful enough to do just that,.

Yes and also drug tested for steroids, and the ones that are left that respect and follow the constitution and 4th amendment rights and do thier job professionally, instead of like goons, be given a huge huge raise for the good and dangerous job they do.

=== never had any problem with any particular officer, clean driving and criminal record, secret clearance. My problem is with their total disregard for the 4th amendment, justifying their actions because they catch a bad guy once in awhile after shaking down many innocent people like some third world gestopo.

Yes, I agree absolutely that standards should be annually reviewed. We also need more down time for officers, more leave, and short work weeks/shifts.
Right now, New Orleans has their cops working 6 day weeks, 12 hour shifts. That's a disaster waiting to happen.

Just a personal anecdote; I worked at an agency where we had a seargent who was so obese, they literally had to let him fall asleep to pass the blood pressure portion of his annual 'physical'.

I think they should be entitled to excellent sick benefits, lots of "burn-out" leave, a program where they can attend psychotherapy by therapists trained in dealing with employees working in high danger/high stress occupations. I think they should get all the free help they need.

I never took a stress test.... No. They are not effective because stress is a common factor not a disorder. It is costly.
