It's a very straightforward site, and not at all "rude".

A female condom is a device that is used during sexual intercourse. It is worn internally by the receptive partner and physically blocks ejaculated semen from entering that person's body.
The plastic Female condoms have the advantage of being compatible with oil-based lubricants as they are not made of latex. The external genitals of the wearer and the base of the penis of the inserting partner may be more protected than when the male condom is used, however see studies below. Inserting a female condom does not require male erection.
Sales of female condoms have been disappointing in developed countries, though developing countries are increasingly using them to complement already existing family planning and HIV/AIDS programming. Probable causes for poor sales are that inserting the female condom is a skill that has to be learned and that female condoms can be significantly more expensive than male condoms (upwards of 2 or 3 times the cost). Also, reported "rustling" sounds during intercourse turn off some potential users, as does the visibility of the outer ring which remains outside the vagina.
I hope this helps.

The FC female condom is a polyurethane sheath or pouch about 17 cm (6.5 inches) in length. At each end there is a flexible ring. At the closed end of the sheath, the flexible ring is inserted into the vagina to hold the female condom in place. At the other open end of the sheath, the ring stays outside the vulva at the entrance to the vagina. This ring acts as a guide during penetration and it also stops the sheath bunching up inside the vagina.
There is silicone-based lubricant on the inside of the condom, but additional lubrication can be used. The condom does not contain spermicide.
There is a picture of in the link below. I never heard of such a thing!! LOL

The female condom is placed inside of a woman's vagina, and it acts as like...an inside condom, which is exactly what it is. I believe it lines the whole inside of the vagina. I saw a picture of one online and it looked like a sock. I am glad that they are making it easier for people to have safe sex nowadays considering that people are allergic to latex and whatnot. You can check out Walgreens or some other website and look for a female condom. The only bad thing is that it is about 7 dollars for ONE female condom and can only be used once, I believe.
I have never used one and I probably never will. I am too afraid that it would get stuck or break or something. Better off for me just staying with men condoms or birth control or something.

It's a sheath of latex which is inserted into the vagina to cover the walls and cervix. More like a diaphragm with a condom connected to it.

There are some incorrect answers here.
Several people have given good answers, JHManes and CuriousB are correct.
BrianS is incorrect, he's describing a diaphragm. Mikey is also incorrect, he's describing a dental dam. But at least they tried.

It's a reuseble dome flexible insert (usually made of firm rubber or flexible plastic)...women need to set up appointment with an OB/GYN to be properly sized.
(Wow...last time I heard about this was in Health class in fressman year HS)

I never used it, it sounds a little weird and a little less protective (I might be wrong though) to me.
