i hear this all the time on the sopranos. I dont know if it spelled right because i cant find it anywhere on the web. What does it mean, how is it spelled and where can i find the site to see this info ? thanks

i guess people on here cant read like the poster that said moron is stupid and so forth. This would be correct ! but im asking about the italian word maron not moron. thanks

talian pronunciation (southern dialect/Neapolitan) of the word "Madonna", literally referring to the Virgin Mary (the mother of Christ). Equivalent would be "Holy Smokes".. A phrase to represent surprise, amazement, or down right shock. Could be used in many contexts.

i was wrong, the answerer that talked about marrone is correct. there is no word in Italian, either maron, or moron.
but since in Italian there really is only the meaning in common usage of brown, and the slave meaning is pretty obscure Italian, i bet when all is said and done the first answerer is correct: they are calling someone stupid. these guys are mostly English speaking. It probably started as a joke among them, to make an American word sound Italian, sort of like insulting somebody to their face but by using the Italian accent on it, make somebody think they were saying something in Italian,
