You've got it wrong, baby!
God does NOT want you to slaughter your dog!
Because of what Jesus had done for you, all you have to do is to accept Jesus as your Saviour. His Blood that was shed for you on the cross has the power to cleanse you from all your sins.
Isn't that great?
The wages of sin is death, but if you believe in Jesus, the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus!

Have you heard of the term “redemption”? Redemption means deliverance from a power of domination and enjoyment of a resulting freedom. According to Jewish law and customs, redemption is closely associated with the notions of “ransom” and “substitution.” By providing a ransom or substitution, the oppressed is freed from the alien domination and restoration is made to the one who possesses a more fundamental interest or right (normally a close relative). For example, let’s say that person A commits a crime, and therefore is under the penalty of the law. Person B could provide a ransom/substitution on behalf of person A. In such a case, person A would be released, and come to enjoy total freedom again. Person B, who has the more fundamental right or interest, could receive person A back into his family (as opposed to having him/her under the penalty and domination of the law).
The blood sacrifice of the animals was used as a type of ransom/substitution for sinners in Israel (Life is in the blood, and the animal blood shed is a substitution for the blood of a sinner that ought to have been shed for his sin). Israel is a nation founded by God to show a picture of heavenly realities. Their laws and customs as written in the Bible – such as I described above – reveal a picture of God’s heavenly principles. The blood sacrifice of animals was only a shadow of what was to come, that is, the blood sacrifice of The Lamb, Jesus Christ, who was the Perfect Sacrifice to substitute the blood/life of all sinners (= all humanity). However, although Jesus gave up His blood/life for all, the substitution is not automatic. Those who reject the gift of His substitution will continue to remain under God’s wrath (i.e., the demands of the Law), but anyone who would receive this ransom in faith can have peace with Him. This peace is not only a real felt supernatural peace in the heart, but also an expression of “not being under the penalty of God’s Law,” the penalty of which MUST be satisfied in eternity if not in this lifetime. God’s peace and other untold blessings start the moment of acceptance unto forever. I hope you receive.

u have a sense of humor that is rare, but your question is legitimate. It was a pagan practice that made it into Judaism. This is my own opinion, but i think that God considers us works in progress. He allows us something that he wants us to stop, but he knows we aren't gonna just be able to stop just like that because every other culture around us is doing the same thing. All people believed that you showed god(s) how much you loved him by offering your best: your best animals of your flock, your first fruits, even your first born child. People were not able to understand the mercy and love of God yet. He put an end to child sacrifice first. He made all kinds of rules about animal sacrifice, so that it is limited to one place at one time, instead of every village performing it. Now God knows the temple is going to be destroyed, and through the prophets he had already been giving animal sacrifice a bad name. And that led to its ending. After destruction of the temple in 70 or so AD, there was no more animal sacrifice as He wants.
Every practice that God wanted us to give up, but was in every culture around the Jews, He made rules about that practice and slowly the practic goes away. As the leaders of the people became more attune to God's will, He revealed how these things were an abomination to him: slavery and polygamy were two examples. These practices were allowed at first, but with many rules about them. Slowly, as God shared his dislike of these practices with prophets and holy men, more enlightened ideas supplanted the old ways.
I may not be explaining my idea very well, but I think you can see what I mean.

"because the blood is the source of life
and he died so we can live"
But God. Makes. The. Rules. No one needed to 'die.' No animals ever needed to be sacrificed. The only reason why anything like that did happen, is because God prefers blood and sacrifice. There is NO other reason (if you argue there is I can just point out that God could have done it differently, with him being all powerful and all)

Sin is serious business. The consequence is death. Shed blood=death. It is gruesome, to demonstrate the gravity of sin. That's the point.
If you opened up your heart just a little and actually sought God for answers to your questions, He would answer. But when you angrily heave accusations against Him, it makes it difficult for Him to bless you with real truth. The truth that can set you free from all the ugliness and hatred in your own heart.

Jesus appeared to Sr.Faustina Kowalska of the Congregation of Our Lady of Mercy in Poland on February 22,1931 She wrote in her diary : "In the evening when i was in my cell, i saw the Lord Jesus in a white garment. He had one hand raised in blessing, and the other was touching his garment at the breast. From the fold in the garment there came forth two large rays :one red and the other pale. When i asked him what the rays meant he answered .The pale rays stand for the water which justifies souls. The red rays stand for the Blood which is the life of souls .It is of course the Sacrament of Baptism and Reconciliation that purify the soul. And the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist that is the life of the soul."

I think you're taking it out of proportion. I don't recall God asking for the slaughter of animals ALL the time... only on special occasions. Like many things in life, it's more about the act and meaning of giving than the gift itself. Cain offered wheat (but then again, look what happened to him).

God wanted them not to sin. in order to make them understand He asked them to sacrifice which they think is precious, livelihood, so that they won't sin again, but what happened was they do sin and sacrifice. That is why Jesus came and sacrificed Himself so that one need not sacrifice any animal but claim the blood of Jesus to be saved.( I hope you understand this)

God was foreshadowing with symbolism. Note that blood covers the sins. So Jesus being the perfect spotless lamb, as He's referred to, shed His blood for all of us, so that we would no longer need the blood of an animal.
