You are an American expat managing a worldwide business in London, England. There are only a small handful of competitors for this business, all of whom are located in Europe. Your professional success rests on achieving very aggressive financial performance targets for your business. The CEO of one of your competitors calls with an invitation for you to attend one of the regularly scheduled meetings of the competitors. It seems there has been a long standing practice of these individuals meeting for a dinner and “discussions.” You fully understand these discussions entail pricing, specific customer details and market activities. You also understand that if you choose not to participate, you would not be aware of actions taken by your competitors, and your ability to achieve your financial targets would be severely affected.
What do you do? Explain your decision.

I will attend the meeting, first and foremost, you would know personally the major players and their current concerns which you can learn and use to your advantage. However, I will not divulge information that is inimical to my operations and or goals. Of course these competitors will be doing the same, maybe bait you to divulge your current business standing, etc., you can do the same, It is like an intricate dance but the knowledge or insight that you will learn from them will be a very valuable asset for you and your company.
Pricing discussion maybe discussed, but not necessarily to be applied to your operations. You can also throw general questions regarding customer details etc.

Well I am a expat managing business, with limited competition, I would not attend to competitors meet, rather I would call for key customers meet to understand their needs and expectations, launch products which are matching their aspirations. well if give u the total action plan then u wont be using ur brain cells, and u will be only a copy cat. Devise your strategy further.

Are you trying to get YA to help you with a homework assignment in your marketing class?
It's real simple, pal. One word, recon. In other words, you need spies gathering intel for your fledgling biz.. Also, go online and get the lowdown on the competitions' businesses such as quotas, new offices, projected sales, etc. relevant to keeping your business in the game. When you attend the meeting, or rather, if you have a golf game scheduled, send your proxy who is "misinformed" because that's what the others are going to do (misinform, that is). Does that answer your question?

Simple, do your own homework! By the way, speaking as a college professor, I can tell you that I and many others do surf the net to see if students are "cheating."

Just thought I would pass that along.
